Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Nice Jeep - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I work on jeeps for a living, so I knew what to expect when I bought mine. Mine has the 4.0L engine. The only thing my Jeep needed when I bought it was an exhaust manifold ( they crack all the time on the 4.0)> Jeeps are high maintainance people! They need alot of T.L.C. You didn`t buy a Toyota. Keep the oil changed every 3k miles, rotate the tires every 6-7k miles (very important on a jeep) and dont beat the vehicle up on the road. Take care of your jeep and more than likely it will take care of you.

  • 19 mpg..23000 miles - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had my Grand Cherroke since July 03, mostly street use. L.A. and Orange county freeways. The tires are my only complaint. Contact me at laazerdude@yahoo.com for details. I use my jeep mainly for business, I have kept a religous service record. I will remain a Jeep owner, I have considered other makes, read alot of material. NOTHING in our driving experience as a vechile that HAS to be used for work will compare: dollar for dollar.

  • Electronic Problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

3 Times to the dealer for electronic problems. Front windows would roll up and make a loud clunk, limit switch/motors needed to be replaced. Heated seat stopped working, dealer fixed by replacing part. Current problem is rear left taillight stops working intermittently. Car has low mileage and is not exposed to bad weather, anyone else having these problems?

  • Good for everything - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I own a 93 and now this 97. The new 4.0L gives a little less HP than the 93/4/5 but a few cheep mods can kick it up to about the same. I drive a lot of highway and offroad most weekends. ZJs are very good for both. I have driven no problem 3000 miles in 3 days, and even been excited to start the next day. In the snow this Jeep is as safe as any subaru etc. The balance and traction is second to none, and it is difficult to get out of control. Driving this Jeep is easier than most cars, and light years ahead of most 07 SUVs. Without a doubt the best SUV for the money.

  • cheap jeep - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

No a/c vents for rear passengers. No cup holders for rear passengers. No hand holder for passengers (roof grips) Rear end noise is so loud you can not hear the radio. Several mechanics have tried and can not lower the noise. Why do american car builders keep putting the fuse panels in such a difficult location........ Jeep leans to much in 30-45 mph turns.

  • 94 Grand - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Have Owned for over ten years. Bought from father in law due to 160,000 miles and he thought it was ready to die. It now has 310,000 miles; uses a quart every 1600 miles. Normal maintenance, and been in the woods many years for hunting. No major problems, and have to run it till it drops dead. My quest was to make it to 300,000 but the dumb thing keeps going, going, and going. Great on ice.

  • Why the Problems Chrysler??? - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Just hit the 30 day mark of ownership of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. 5.7 v8 and heres what happened today: Engine Light, ABS Light, Brake Light, Airbag Light, Traction Control Light all suddenly came on! In addition, backup camera not functioning properly, cant open lift gate, and UConnect keeps cutting out completely! Took it to a Jeep Dealership (not where I purchased from, but it shouldnt matter, right!?) and their service shop was closed but they told me I could "rent" a vehicle...ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!! I am taking it to the service shop at 7:30 am tomorrow and by hell or high water will be getting a loaner, at no cost, and will be having it out with the service team.

  • Gotta love a Jeep! - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased this jeep in 2001 with 44k miles on it. Just ticked off 119k and it still runs and looks just like it did when I bought it. Have had to put new brakes and such on it but other than the general maintenance stuff I have not spent a dime on it. This has been the best vehicle Ive ever owned. I will probably drive this till the wheels fall off and plan to buy another jeep when that happens!

  • jeeps r fun - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  • Is this a Jeep? - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Have owned a Cherokee, Wrangler, and driven the Libertys. If you took the Jeep logo off the steering wheel, I would think I was driving a higher priced SUV! Jeep has finally gotten something going here. Drove a 2004, thought it was nice, but the 2005 is a dramatic increase in ride quality, handling and performance. The 6 is nice, with decent fuel economy (better then my Wrangler was). The Laredo is a nice package, have turned many heads with it. No more cheap plastic on the bottom on the body. Jeep has added many luxury features that enhance the experience.
