Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

2014 Cherokee Limited diesel - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By JoAnn Hennings - December 22 - 2:10 am23,575 mi. Had 2 catalytic converters. 5 engine lights. frustrating to have a new car that strands you a 100 miles from home. Even with appointments car is not always looked at on that day. Not right. Always excuse they are short in techs. (So you can an be out 2 days without a car) Oil changes are ok. $60 oil filter on diesel, + oil + labor.

Battery Problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By S Fryer - December 21 - 12:26 amOverall I am pleased with this vehicle. BUT I am about to put a third new battery in. First one dealer claimed sun roof was drawing power, second - no explanation, but there was no water in battery (one week after general service) - going in for service again tomorrow - one month after second battery replacement. Good thing this is a leased vehicle and can be returned!

Stay Away! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By atl7 - December 19 - 11:17 pmWe have owned our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for 5 months. Tomorrow will be the fifth time it is going in the shop. We have transmission problems that are dangerous, problems with the radio which controls the heat/ac/clock/navi, the speedometer blanked out at one time and the abs breaks maded the car almost come to a complete stop on a highway. The Jeep dealership continues to do "computer updates" to the car and it continues to have problems. Now we also have a squeak in the back. Beautiful car but terrible reliability! Not safe to drive!!!!!!! Do Not Buy.

Explorer Vs. Grand Cherokee - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ford-Now Jeep Man - December 19 - 10:00 amSimply put, Ive owned only Ford Motor Company products my entire life. This past fall I wanted a mid-size SUV to trade my F-150 to. I drove an Explorer and then after a friend telling me great things I drove a Jeep. A few hours later, I drove away in my 2004 Pewter GC Special Edition. Great engine, fair ride quality, best seats in the business, and overall superb vehicle. I would also like to comment on how nimble it feels compared to other SUVs Ive driven.

My trusted Jeep - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Will - December 18 - 5:40 pmI love my Jeep. Yeah Ive had some normal problems with a car that now has 155,000 miles on it like replace radiator, starter, window motor, and a couple of other things, but thats normal. Parts are really cheap for it and the car is easy to work on. The inline 6 cylinder is virtually bullet proof.

One of the Best - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kitou - December 16 - 10:00 amI bought this truck in 1999 with 45000 miles on it, the only problems I had not counting regular maintenance were a defective crankshaft positioning sensor, a/c gave up at 80000 miles, temp unit not calibrated and a bit of rust but for the most part, thids vehicule as been very reliable, never let me down, did the jeep jamboree this year and went on a level 5 course and believe me i was impressed !!!. stock truck just 30" tires.... I would recommend this jeep to anyone except for the fuel comsumption.... but hey!!, cannot have it all. Jeep Fan.

Be aware of your gas tank - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By tetrafri - December 16 - 10:00 amMy husband and I were rear ended and our 1998 Grand Cherokee exploded on impact. The gas tank ruptured and the car was engulfed in flames within seconds. We both jumped out and were lucky enough not to have our children with us. The damage to the back of the vehicle was minimal. Please be careful if you drive this vehicle. The gas tank is right under the rear fender. We were lucky to escape and have the most frightening pictures to prove this. Daimler Chrysler "respectfully declined" to participate in the costs we incurred and claimed no product liability. If you get hit from behind, get out of the car till you know its safe. Lynn Friedman
