Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Limited Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Janell - January 3 - 6:40 pmThis is my 3rd Jeep and this new one is the best ever. It is more stable on the road and around corners. The Hemi is great and gives that surge of power when needed. I have taken it on a long trip and it was very comfortable. No back aches or leg aches. The navigation is great and the smart high beams are amazing. I would recommend this quality vehicle to everyone.

2007 JEEP GRAND CHERKEE - Love it! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By disgustedagain - January 1 - 10:22 amWe Purchased the 2007 JEEP Grand Cherokee used with 41,000 miles on it. Now has 75,000 Miles on it. We have had a few warrenty issues with bad differencial gaskets, and leaky transmission hose. Starter - All Covered - No cost to us. We have done nothing but preventive regular maintenence you have to do with any car. Gas, Tires, Oil, Transmission check at 70,000 --Drain, Flush, All OK. We have rough Winters here in Minnesota, and this is the vehical to own. Goes through 2ft or more like it is not there. Very stable ride, smooth, quiet, sits up nice. I was so happy with this one, I bought another JEEP Grand Cherokee 2998 Limited, Love that too!

A lot of good - some bad - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By traildog - January 1 - 9:56 amBought new, now 138K I6 Quadradrive Ltd - had her in mud, mountains, rocks, washes, desert, snow, hunting etc - never got stuck! Get 19/22 and have put less than $500 in 7 years (other than tires, brakes, and oil). Now I am facing tranny, CVs, A/C, power window, water pump, cruise repairs, tires and who knows what else. It aint cheap to get fixed.

What else can go wrong - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By horrible suv - December 30 - 10:00 amI have replaced fuel pump, power steering pump, water pump, radiator, rear end, and radio. The air conditioning was leaking water into the interior..sounds baffling. I guess that is another common problem in these jeeps. These repairs were all done at my "five star" jeep dealership. Thank God that I had purchased the extended warranty. I have 119, 000 miles on it now. Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. Make sure you stay away from the V8 and four wheel drive. The interior door panels are falling apart. I think jeep makes a few crappy ones out there just so the dealers service department can make a few bucks.

My Great Grand - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Weoflun - December 30 - 10:00 amExtremely sporty feel to it. The uniframe is very rigid and seems to be very durable. Off-road it seems smooth and yet extremely responsive; just like the other Jeep vehicles. The ride is very different from the older Grand Cherokees, it doesnt rock nearly as much as before, and yet is still a great off-roader - in fact, I feel its better. The Jeep feels very safe to drive. I like the steering much better than my previous, older Grand Cherokee. And although bigger, I feel more in-tune with my vehicle and the surroundings than I did with my previous Jeep.

Highly Satisfied Buyer - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Robert Hager - December 30 - 10:00 amPrevious 3 SUVs were GCLs. Particularly enjoy the feel, confort and the many "bells and whistles" of the Overland especially rain-sensitive wipers and tire pressure monitor. Appreciate pleasing interior design. Would highly recommend to my friends.

First SUV after sport lux cars - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By bakoff - December 28 - 5:52 amI have a 2014 JGC Altitude 4x4 with a May 2014 build date, and it is really great so far. I am confident that many of the issues reported in the early builds were software related and have been cleared up. My observed mpg is 17, so that is a little disappointing. I will admit that I have kind of a heavy foot. Coming from a string of luxury sport sedans, the lower mpg is offset in part by getting to use regular gas rather than premium (which costs about 12% less at current prices in my area), and dyno oil rather than synthetic.

Highway Robbery - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kgastenaue - December 27 - 8:52 amI bought this car in March and it has been broken from day 1.The lights in the air conditioning panel never lit up but some of the others did. I asked the sales person about it and he said "those lights dont illuminate in this model". I brought the car back for service. They kept my car for the day, ran some updates and they still didnt light up. In addition my trunk wasnt opening 90% of the time. I was told if they couldnt duplicate the problem it couldnt be fixed. I took it to another service center instead. The whole light panel had to be replaced and updates hadnt been done at all to my car from before I bought it. Three trips later my trunk still wont open most of the time.

Would not buy this vehicle - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jtrump - December 24 - 9:15 pmI bought the vehicle new in 2002. Did not take long to start experiencing problems. From what I was told this was the year they decided to make changes. One in particular they used non adjustable ball joints. This led to my vehicle pulling to the right which in turn cupped my tires. Dealer replaced ball joints but would not replace tires. Poor design in duct work. There is ample airflow from left side but barely non on right (passenger side). Was told this was by design. Had issue with AC not working, had to take to dealership several times before it was corrected. Drivers seat frame broke in two places. This happened just as vehicle was out of warranty. Replaced at my cost.

Love the 59r - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By D-Roq - December 24 - 2:00 amNothing slams you back in your seat like the torque of this jeep!! Performance and comfort make this a dream to drive. Fulltime four wheel drive provides great on/off road traction. This jeep will blow by anything but the gas station! Overall its a goodtime but good ole american build quality will come back to haunt you. New rear end, steering box and sway bar bushings have been replaced in the past 6 months due to "standard 80,000 mile wear and tear." My verdict, amazing vehicle so long as you buy a good extended warranty and dont mind filling up once a week.
