Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Its a JEEP! (-: - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Brandi - February 17 - 10:00 amGreat vehicle. Bought used a year ago with 103,000 miles on it. Now has 130,000 on it and no problems other than preventive maintenance(things that need to be replaced at 100,000+ miles). Had 86 Cherokee with 230,000 when I got rid of it and FIL has 91 Cherokee with 250,000+ on it so I know I have many miles left. Regretted getting rid of mine til I got this one. Glad to be back in a Jeep! People who say otherwise should think about how it was cared for before making a judgement on quality. If well-cared for, will last for many miles.

Grand Cherokee Believer - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By J.Pasquarello - February 17 - 4:16 amI purchased my first SUV in May of 2003. It was a 2000 Grand Cherokee with 24,700 miles. I had read the reviews about all the brake issues with the GCs and expressed my concern to the dealership. They did not deny that brakes were an inherent problem for that model year and preceding years. He did say however that Chrysler had a fix for them with beefed up components etc. They agreed to redo all the brakes on the car if I were to purchase it. I did and I have had no problems at all with the brakes. The ride is not as smooth as I would like but it is a JEEP. I have been very happy with it!

2005 Grand Cherokee Great Buy - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mtndog46 - February 15 - 9:50 pmWe looked at and drove Toyota 4Runner, BMW X5, Land Rover LR3 and several other midsize SUVs before buying the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. We love the ride, power and agility of the Hemi powered GC. The fully featured GC with Nav, auto dimming head lights and redesigned front suspension is a joy to drive. Take one for a test drive, you wont be sorry.

Performs flawlessly and gets me anywhere - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeeper05 - February 15 - 6:23 amI am a hunter and use this Jeep a lot and use it hard. Even with the 4x4 Quadtrac 1 system, it gets me through the mud, sand, deep water, through brush and up and down hills great. I never get stuck. Not quite a Wrangler in some manners but almost and it rides like a champ. Very comfortable, good gas mileage, 18 mpg in town and 23 on one trip. Great in the snow also. I have 36,000 miles on my jeep now and its running great. My last one went 275k until tranny needed work. Sold it to employee with 330k and is still running great.

Its no Aston Martin but ill take it I guess.

Dont Buy A Jeep - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By reasy - February 13 - 8:30 amWe bought 2000 Jeep with 35,000 miles, and just a few months of owning our Jeep the back window motor broke, then the drive side, then the passenger side. So we have replaced 3 window motors in 3 years costing $350.00 a piece to replace. Then the battery and alternator went. Then we had to replace the front differential bearings. Now 2 days ago we found out we have to replace the whole engine because the rod bearings broke. This Jeep was bought in excellent condition, not a mark on it. We bought it as a family car we do not go mountain climbing in it, we keep it updated with the oil and fluids change. This is very upsetting and every time I think about this it makes me sick in the stomach.

Wish we didnt buy a defective Jeep... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By John - February 5 - 12:30 pmNo matter the make or model of any car, there will always be cars with many problems and some who never have any! Luck of the draw. Well, we didnt luck out. Weve had nothing but problems. Everything is under warranty, and there was a recall (no big deal), but its already been back to the dealer for the following: replaced the torque converter, roof leaks, fuel sensors died, had to replace entire gas tank, had to replace the starter, shakes at certain speeds, and even stalls out at times. Transmission is HORRIBLE. Seems like a lot of problems to have within the first year. We were excited to buy the Jeep (both of us being previous Jeep owners), and wish we bought one that wasnt defective!

the best SUV on the market - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mangray - February 5 - 2:00 amits luxurious, fast, good looking what else can you expect from a SUV. It goes 0-30 mph in 2.3 seconds that is comparible to a high performance sports car. I know that is enough for me!!!

The Most INCAPABLE Sport Utility ever - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Edgar Gonesh - February 3 - 10:00 amUnless you have money and time to waste I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. Besides numerous recalls this vehicle (or at least mine)is plagued with tons of failures ranging from window mechanism failures to complete engine failures. If you are in the market for an SUV go look somewhere else.
