Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Love my Jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Flo - March 3 - 10:16 amI have owned my Jeep Grand Cherokee for only a few months, and I love it dearly. It is fun to drive, easy to handle, and very comfortable. My only complaint is the gas mileage. I am getting about 15 in the city and 21 on the highway. I drove a Honda Accord prior to the purchase of my Jeep. Even though there is no comparison on gas mileage, I STILL LOVE MY JEEP!

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jacques Guertin - March 2 - 6:56 amIn spite of a few reliability issues (e.g., occasional erratic A/C and occasional erratic power), this car is built like a tank and accelerates 0 to 60 in about 4.8 s! For a 5,000 lb SUV for less than $50k, this is fantastic. It also handles well and is less prone to roll over than many other SUVs. And, it looks good too. I would not hesitate buying another.

The Worst Theyre Made Of - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ashenmorality - March 1 - 3:37 amWell I had written a long review, but it didnt post because of Edmunds glitch. In short, transmission not smooth: jerks. Air suspension message error when not using it and not hot outside. Uconnect issues. Key Fob liftgate problems. Remote Start HVAC problems. Leather seats and dash prematurely cracking. Uconnect a joke compared to other systems: no convenience features such as Pandora, iheart radio, etc. Voice dictation laggy. Yelp search is a joke.

Solid car, happy buyer & owner - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hshah - February 28 - 8:36 pmAt 5k miles and glad I went with the Grand. I had also looked the 4Runner and the Pathfinder and had made the decision to go Nissan until Jeep offered incentives that brought the Ltd. Grand with V8 in cheaper than the high end Nissan. Overall, Im very happy with the car. Its a pleasure to drive. Though somewhat boat like at times in its billowy suspension response, thats a plus for me though as this is going to be a baby hauler. Soft=good. The MDS system is seamless but hasnt had as much of impact on MPG as advertised and can be stingy to give back the V8 when in a pinch to accelerate. Interior is plush & comfortable and gets an undeserved bad rap in reviews.

Premature Failures - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By C. Bond - February 28 - 2:00 am33000 miles- The fuel pump failed. 35000 miles- The power steering pump failed. 46000 miles the sway bar disconnected. 52000 miles the IPS sensor failed. 70000 miles the tramsmision pump and torque converter failed. The remote control memory, door locks, power mirrors and seat controls have failed roughly 4 times. What really got me is when the repair facility was familiar with the failure mode each time. You mean its normal to loose a fuel pump at 33,000 miles? Oh, and the "certified" service department local to me is a joke. 3 transmission repairs, and 2 of them returned a vehicle with loose transfer case bolts?

So So - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Glenn Scott - February 27 - 8:33 pmI have always been a Toyota fan. I still am. This vehicle just didnt measure up. By the time I had 100K on it things were literally falling apart. The engine has been no problem to 150K. But the brakes are a Joke. They thump about 2K after having them done. I have had them done about 12 times. The tranny signed off at 105K and the ball joints and front end were all done at 115K. It did get a solid 20 MPG and the seats never wore or tore so I guess not all bad. My last 4 Runner got retired at 280K original tranny and ball joints. Oh yeah, I had the brakes done about 5 times and they never ever thumped!

Poor suspension - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By driver109 - February 27 - 12:31 pmPurchased a Jeep Overland only to find that the suspension produces a very loud bang noise upon recoil when going over a pothole or bump. This is on all 4 wheels and Chrysler and the Dealership acknowledge the issue in both 2011 and 2012 models and say its a characterisitic of the vehicle. Can you believe that? This is supposed to be a vehicle that can take you anywhere. Chrysler acknowledges the problem but wont fix it. See for yourself...take one for a test drive and go over a speed bump or ride off a curb...its simply shocking!!!!! Dont buy one...

The last real 4x4 - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Christian - February 18 - 3:55 pmThe all wheel drive 4.7 v8 gets about 14-15 city mpg I think that is perfect if you live in a climate where all wheel drive is needed. The car has perfect power, steering ability and off road performance. I had a 1997 grand cherokee and I can say jeep has come a long way perfecting it. All the way around it is a very good car!!! Its now at 175,600 miles and all I have had to replace is 2 raiditor hoses, brakes, bulbs, and fluids!!!! It is a very strong suv!!! Ive had it for 3 years now and will never get rid of it
