Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Better ride - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This my 4th Jeep Grand Cherokee. I find the ride much smoother. The steering appears to be easier to handle. I think the back seat leg room should be widened by moving the back seats back so that a taller person has more leg room, especially if front seats are moved back. Glad to see the emergency brakes are now on drivers side instead of passenger side. Overall I am happier with this 2006 than my 2002 Jeep, hope I still feel this way by this time next year.

Check that all of the many factory recalls have been completed. I have had non start issues even though the dealer said they were completed. They cannot find the problem and told me the next time it does not start have it towed to them. I have 41000 miles and it is not covered by factory recalls. I left it for the day recently and paid $140.00 and they could not find why the car wont start intermittently. They did recommend i replace the rear windshield wiper for $36.00? and have an alignment? The car had an alignment recently not at the dealer. This is my fourth Jeep and my last one.

  • AGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Never buying another! Relay switch, Window regulator just plays out, A/C has been totally redone, CD player replaced and still not working right, and the gauges will just flicker and the jeep eventually just dies on us. Has been in shop 4 times for this and well, obviously 4xs...they cant seem to find what is wrong. 2003 only 54,000 miles on it!! We wanted a reliable SUV that we could take traveling in and I dont trust it.

  • 2005 Jeep GC Laredo with 4.7L V8 - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is our fourth Jeep (1997,1999, 2002) and this is the best ride of all. Tight steering, quiet, great acceleration, and very comfortable. The leather seats are slightly harder than the previous Jeep but not bad. The Boston Acoustics sound sytem has great sound. With the 28X package you get most of the options available. After having two Jeeps with the 6 cyl engine and now 2 with the V8 I strongly recommend the V8. Gas mileage is close and if you tow anything you will enjoy the V8. There really isnt anything we dont like about this Jeep. We considered moving to the Chrysler 300C because of its styling but are very happy with the 2005 JGC.

  • Electrical problems - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Shortly after the 36k mile warranty (37400 miles to be exact) the AC blend doors failed and that will require a $2000 repair; we have also had several electrical problems that come and go. Last week the gauges all started jumping before the key was put into the ignition. None of these problems are covered of course. We really like the looks and how comfortable Grand Cherokee is but the quality is very poor. We have two Mercedes that are of much better quality and Im afraid that this will be our last American designed automobile.

Jeep Cherokees, especially the 4WD Ltd. are great units. Drives great and looks great. The unit exudes power and the looks are high quality. It has the most comfortable seats outside of a SRX or RX330. Fine overall, EXCEPT, the miles per gallon. Chrysler needs to get serious.

the jeep grand cherokee has one of the smoothest suspension of ant suv that i have driven.the 4.7ho has plenty of power for towing. the interior and exterior has a very distinctive and sleek look.also the sound system is one of the best that i have heard for a stock system.

  • Awesome Jeep ride and off road - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The new 4.7 litre engine is awesome and has lots of pep. This vehicle will leave every other SUV in its class in the dust off road. It rides the same off road as it does on the asphalt. The little bumps seem a little bumpier on pavement, but it drives awesome on BIG bumps off road. I live in Montana and this ride takes me everywhere I want to go.

  • Great SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Great SUV. Looked at several others and this one fit all of our needs the best, including our pocketbook. The new freedom package comes with just enough to set it apart from the soccer moms SUVs in the mall parking lot. Get used to alot of stares and smiles as you drive by, especially if you choose the inferno red pearl color.

  • Bad to the bone - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have had my SRT8 for two weeks now and I have never driven a more fun car in my life. My only complaint is rear seat legroom. But since Ill probably never sit there it is of little concern for me. The gas mileage is not great but I didnt buy it for fuel economy. The styling is a real head turner. I can barely get in the thing without someone wanting to know what it has under the hood once they hear the key hit the ignition. I am throughly pleased and I have no regrets about trading my Yukon Denali elephant for this street beast.
