Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Love this Jeep!!! - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Prat - June 2 - 10:00 amCant believe the deal I got on this Jeep! 97000 miles and its running stronger than I could have asked. Fuel economy is amazing compared to my fathers 4.3 V-6 GMC, I get 25-28mpg on the highway! Handles like a dream, and the Quadratrac is great. There are some squeaks and little rattles, but nothing overly noticeable. Wonderful quality. Love the leather seats, they are soft and comfortable. Tons of room, Im 62" and dont need the drivers seat all the way back. I love this Jeep more every day. I am very confident it will go over 200kmi!

Flex Fuel Problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mammabird - May 31 - 11:10 pmWe have had our Jeep in for service 3 times before the first payment is due. The Evap. System has been replaced. The check engine light hasnt gone on since but it seems as soon as we fill with E85 the gas mileage (not great to begin with) plummets to 14 miles per gallon. we expected a "slight change" but not a 5 mile per gal difference.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - Hemi - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By erikb - May 28 - 6:10 pmExcellent on road and off road ride. Interior design excellent, but a bit too much hard plastic on the dash. The console armrest should be leather, with the seats. But love the vehicle.

Our 5th Grand Cherokee, Grandest yet - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jonathan - May 27 - 5:43 pmWe just purchased a 2005 Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain Edition. For those unfamiliar with this package -- its built off the Laredo package but adds some cool stuff for a pretty low cost to the consumer. Ours has leather heated seats, adjustable foot pedals, a trailer hitch, special Jeep leather seats with Jeep logo, a CD player with Boston Acoustics sound and Sirius satellite provided free for one year, as well as an upgraded rim and off road all season tires and chrome badging to replace the plastic pieces. Ours also has the available 4.7 V8 - which I highly recommend. We had a 93, 96, 99 Laredo and a 02 Limited. The Limited was our favorite but the sticker price was not.

Better than the Last One - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By laurelmt - May 27 - 5:13 pmThis is the second Grand Cherokee Larado we have owned. The last one was a totaly different car. This one has been a perfect gem. Even after all these miles, it has been very low maintanence. The only major problem was the computer went out with no warning. Only cost $600 to fix. Great cars but be careful what you buy..there are a bunch out there with problems.

Replaced Toyota 4x4 - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Alton - May 25 - 2:00 amThis vehicle replaced my Toyota 4x4 which I put 220,000 miles on. It had to be good to get me to replace that Toyota and I have not been disappointed. The power from the six cylinder is very suprising. You step on the gas and the acceleration will press you back into the seat. Looking forward to putting 200,000 miles on it. I put 1000 miles on it in a flash it is fun to drive.

GOOD CAR - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MARIA - May 23 - 3:00 pmThe design of this car is ok; I have a blue one and I donÂ’t like the black side panels. It is a wonderful ride, handles very well and takes curves great. I had the 2003 -- this one has more power and is fun to drive. The interior design baffles me, nothing matches and the gear changer looks like it belongs in a BMW or something. IÂ’m upset that the 2003 radio told you the names of the songs on the radio and the 2005 doesnt.

Long Distance Vehicle - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By James - May 22 - 10:40 pmI have owned my Grand Cherokee since new. We now have over 250K miles on it. At 150 I had the rear differential rebuilt. Overall it has been a very good vehicle for us since we live in the Lake Tahoe Area. Our previous Cherokee finally gave out at 330K and this seems to be about the same in terms of aging.

I love my Jeep, and I wouldnt have it any other way. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By purpleman - May 22 - 2:40 amIve read a lot of these reviews and most of the complaints are about the dealerships mistakes, not the vehicle itself. I honestly have nothing bad to say about my my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The 4.7 V8 gives me a lot of power, and the full time 4x4 gives me added traction in any situation. I bought it initially for $5900.00 from a retailer and put another $3000.00 in repairs into it, but since then its just been regular maintenance and it runs beautifully. My one and only complaint is that the sound proofing could be better. Once you get it on the highway it drowns out the radio pretty easily. My jeep just rolled over 215,000k and it runs better than the day I bought it.

The Best of the Worst - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By dfranzen - May 20 - 10:00 amThis vehicle has been in the shop more than 30 times in the 3+ years that I have owned it (not one accident). I had a Toyota 4-Runner for more than 10 years that was in the shop only 3 times! I have written Chrysler, but after the first phone call conversation, I guess they felt they had done enough, no further contact. Some of the problem areas: A/C - completely replaced, Brakes, Drive Tran, Electrical - enough? It is too bad that a vehicle that cost more than $35,000 cant make it through a year without going into the shop more than a 1/2 dozen times! I would expect that from oh maybe Isuzu...
