Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Great truck. Tranny issues have soured me a bit. Gas milage has been ok. 4.0 litre engine under performs. If you can, get the eight.

  • My Jeep...My LEMON!! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought a used Jeep, which seemed like a great buy. To my surprise, this one is a total lemon. Everything has been replaced, and it still doesnt work correctly; radiator, cracked head gasket, oxygen sensors, long block engine, transmission leak, persistant coolant leaks. My engine almost seized several times because the coolant leaks so fast. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

  • Best SUV Ive ever owned - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have owned mostly smaller SUVs in the past including Honda CRV, 3 Subaru Outbacks and most recently Jeep Renegade. I finally made a leap to the mid SUV segment and got a 2017 Jeep GC Limited.. What a difference. For a bigger SUV, it drives smooth, very quiet and it is totally not a gas guzzler as I initially worried about. In fact for the power of the engine I was getting 24-25 during the summer time and about 21-22 in our winter so far. Interior is clean and upscale looking better than the Toyota Highlanders and Honda Pilot. I am very impressed with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Its value at all levels.

  • Love this car, Get the warranty. - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I drive about 60 miles a day on L.A. freeways, and do alot of 4 wheeling on the weekends, and have not been disapointed or let down yet. However, know that this car has some faults that will probably need to be fixed. When the front rotors warp (which will be soon) spend the extra $50 on aftermarket crossed-drilled rotors, and some good pads. They will save you money in the end. Change your fluids like you should (engine oil, X-Case, Tranny, and Diffs) and those shouldnt give you any problems. The extended warranty is fairly inexpensive piece of mind. I cant wait to see what it can do with some decent tires.

  • Amazing SUV - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The jeep is unbeatable. Living in New England, Ive had my share of snowstorms and rain storms,a dn the Jeep has gotten me safely out of all of them. The 4WD is unbeatable and the reliability is unmatched. Ive owned the car since 1998 and its now turning 220,000 miles. Still pulling. Only problems has been the U-joints and the Radiator have gone out recently, which, being a mechanic, cost me about $500, but would have been appraised around $1200. $1200 in 13 years? And Toyota said they had a low maintenance cost.

Bought this vehicle to replace my 1999 GMC truck that I wrecked. The vehicle was still under factor warranty when I bought the car. Im getting 18-20 mph around town and 20-24 on the road. I like the design of the Jeep and the ride and for the price it was the best deal that I could find. Had to have something large enough for a family of t but still got decent MPH.

  • Thi CAR SUCKS! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This car is a pile of Sh**! I have had so much electrical problems on this car that i dont even know what to do anymore. Spent so much $ at the STEALERSHIP and still has problems. The dealership loves it when you bring your car in. All they do is plug in the scanning device, read the error code, and tell you how much its gonna cost to replace the part. The error code might not even be the main problem. Ive seen it when error codes start changing after you replace the part that it told you to. Then your down $2-3000s and the problems not even fixed. There could be some kind of computer error and its just punching out random codes. JEEP SUCKS and STEALERSHIP SUCKS! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you own 2007 Cherokee be very careful. A year ago I turned onto a very busy road and lost all acceleration, with the peddle to the floor all I could get to was 15 mph. I took the Jeep in and they said nothing was wrong and informed me it was most likely bad gas. Apparently this was not the case as it continued to happen almost weekly, and now a year later it happens several times a day. I have had my jeep in service several times for this and they always tell me there is nothing wrong. Someone please give me some advice, I am in a position where I can not sell and I donÂ’t have the money to buy a second car. I feel I am putting myself and other drivers at risk every time I get in my jeep.

  • Its been a year of ownership - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

See my earlier review here, still a fun vehicle but has its problems. Still very fast and have caught a few very quick cars off guard. Transmission planetary spacer destroyed itself from the factory install resulting in damaged transmission and torque converter. Dealer service spotty at best. Took 2 tries to finally find a Jeep dealer that allowed for confidence, Century in Mt Airy MD. Brakes wear fast and replacements are 3 times that of a typical brake job. Parts for rotors and brakes alone online are $650. replacement brakes are better than the stock units, less dust and squeal. Interior very plasticky in its build it will grow on you. Several Electrical Tech service bulletins
