Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

please hold together - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Joe - September 18 - 7:16 pmThe limited is smooth on the road, polite off the road and comfortable inside. NAV, SAT radio and all the toys a must on long rides. Room up front is fine and has OK storage. So far the Limited is enjoyable is drive. There is nothing outstanding except for the HEMI. The kick-in response could be better. It does not respond like the BMW but the cost to power is really fine.

Love the car if not in shop - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Corey - September 14 - 8:06 pmI love the performance of this car and it drives great but it has a lot of mechanical problems. I have had the car in the shop 7 times in the first year and a half. I have had two sets of driveshafts go bad. The air bag light keeps going on and the service brake light does the same thing; lots of rattles and it has never been off road.

Shoddy Chic! Cute w/ Constant Problems - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By katherine - September 12 - 6:00 pmCompletely fed up. Bought this with 31K miles in July 05; nothing negative in CarFax. Was out of town 3 months so have only driven it 5 months yet Ive had to take it for service 9(!) times now: multi cylinder misfires (twice), valve over carbonization (twice), oxygen sensor failed/replaced, fuel line leaked, tensioner pulley fell out of engine (!) and replaced, pass-side window collapsed plus needed several parts replaced, and a few generic engine malfunctions. Unbelievable. Was there NO quality control? Only 35K miles now - should NOT be like this. I hate my car.

Im Sold! - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Look out Toyota! - September 12 - 3:26 amI compared a lot of SUVs- especially the Toyota Venzas and Highlanders. Both are a joke content wise and price wise compared to the new Jeep. I was going through the motor mall and saw this Jeep parked out front. It did not take too long for me to drive it home. The interior is utterly amazing- I am still trying to figure out all the gadgets it has- none that were even offered by Toyota. The interior blows Toyotas and Lexus out of the water. The car is so quiet, I have to look at the tach to make sure the engine is running. If this is what Chrysler is going to offer from here on out in the rest of their new cars, the company will not only survive, but thrive!

Second JGC - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BPG - September 11 - 10:00 amThis is my second JGC. My first a 96 limited. I traded it in for a 02 larado sport after 116,000 no problem miles. I got the 4.0 6 to save on gas and found I did not need all the stuff on the limited. So far a good move on my part. My mpg is better and so is the ride. The leather seats are better but do not adj as much. After 1,000 mi break in I toook it off road(dirt road w/washbord) and found the select track more fun than the all the time four wheel dtive I had before.

Dissapointed!! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mari - September 7 - 7:32 amI love the comfort and look of my Jeep Grand Cherokee in eco diesel, but I have been non stop at the dealer since the first day I stepped out of the dealer. I have owned this vehicle not even a year and it has been in service for 4 times for check engine light. I have wasted countless hours waiting for my car and the service telling me they are not up to date on how to take care of the problem. I call Chrysler customer care and they told me there is nothing they can do but keep fixing it. I was told to leave with the car even though it was telling me it needed to be serviced and so engine didnt start a day later, I had it towed to the dealer and they supposedly fixed the problem. I feel stuck not knowing if this car is safe or who to turn too? The dealers are no help.Think twice on this pricey problem.

Great Looking and Plush - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Bill kennedy - September 6 - 2:00 amI find the GRand Cherokee a nice vehichle with many amenities. I was goingto buy a limited but found a laredo which is more sporty looking with the exact same options such as leather heated seats, Sun roof and electric everything. The 8 Cylender is a plus.

Good Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Denny - September 5 - 9:00 pmMy wife and I purchased our GC LTD new and have generally enjoyed it. It has a nice smooth ride, and with the 4.7L V- 8, accelerates very quickly. My wife drives mainly in town and averages 14MPG, though on longer trips we have averaged as high as 23 MPG. We have had some recurrent problems, such as with window seals shrinking and front brake rotor problems. Jeep replaced the front brakes a couple of years ago under recall and have had no problems since, including no brake dust! We also had a heated seat burn through, but with some fighting Jeep repaired the seat. Overall, I would recommend the Grand Cherokee.

Lovin It - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By chuckwildman - September 3 - 7:22 amBought mine a year ago with 85,000 miles and put on about 20,000 since then. Replaced brakes all the way around including calipers. Replaced front drive shaft to resolve "clunking" noise. Was able to use part from salvage yard. Replaced CD changer also with part from salvage yard. Has 4.7 V8 and it is very strong. Its been off-road a few times and this Jeep is very capable compared to other stock 4x4 with Quadra-Drive II awd system.
