The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

By kbugs - December 13 - 10:00 amWent from a 97 Laredo to the 2003 Limited. Absolutely no comparison between the vehicles, ride, performance, etc. The v8 has great power and excellent handling. The quadra drive kicks in automatically even in the rain. Love the vehicle!!!

By lovmyjeep - December 13 - 10:00 amI replaced my 93 Grand Cherokee Ltd (110k miles)with this 2004 Grand Cherokee Ltd 8 cyl. It is classy, rides like a dream, and makes heads turn. Altho it is not good on gas- I could care less--its a pleasure to drive and puts you back in the seat when you need to pass.

By Donald Duck - December 13 - 10:00 amWe had a Jeep until Sep 11, 2001 when we picked up a new Subaru Outback which we really like. But,, its not a Jeep. Once a Jeep owner you either love um or leave um. We love our Jeep. It sits up higher then the Subaru, it rides better then our 95 Jeep Limited and gets about the same gas mileage. We had a 6 cyl before so the 8 respondes better and has alot more power. Exterior is great and interior is wonderful. Overall rating, excellent!!!

The best there is. Not a copy of one - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Also have a 2002 Ford Explorer, which I like but, which cannot compare with Jeep in terms of ergonomic design on the interior, bad weather performance or overall engineering.

Great car - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By OC - December 13 - 10:00 amJust bought a Grand Cherokee about two months ago. I love the way that it drives like a car. I havent had a chance to test its capabilities yet, but I cant wait for the first offroad experience or snowfall. It is capable, yet agile, and the engine is quite peppy as well (4.0 L).

By leohansen - December 13 - 10:00 amAlways had trouble with jeeps, my wife loved them, bought it for her. So far so good. no problems at all. excellent pickup(HO V8) but the draw back is awful gas milage. handles cross country great. The overland has a stiffer suspension and is 3 inches higher. Has more of a "trucky" ride but we like it.
