Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Couldnt be happier - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive owned many brands of fine cars and only one other SUV, which happened to be a Chevy Blazer. I thought I couldnt do much better for options and comfort. But when I got my Jeep and compared comfort and styling, I was pleasantly pleased with the total package of the vehicle. I am thoroughly enjoying my new ride.

  • Still Going Strong Great S - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have had a 1996 Limited Grand Cherokee since 2002. I like everything about it and it only has minor problems that need fixed. I have only had some major work on it done every few years usually the same stuff. This jeep stays outside year round in all weather conditions and it still gets me to point A and B without any problems. A jeep this age of course needs routine maintenance so its understandable when it has issues. I truly enjoy driving this jeep even today and I still have people ask me about it and people still comment it. I am sorry for all the owners out there that have had problems with theirs I will have this jeep till it stops running a truly great suv to own! Thanks Jeep

  • Beautiful rig - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

We bought our Jeep a year ago. Fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Deep charcoal gray with matching leather interior. Running boards. Some kind of extra grill attachment on the front. It just looked fabulous. A year later, it still does. No other SUV touches the curb appeal of the Grand Cherokee (1999 and beyond style). Comfort when riding? Tops. All the bells and whistles in this model. Its a beauty. On the highway, a joy. Plenty of pop in the 4.7L to pass at whatever speed you need. This gorgeous rig turns heads. It performs. Maintenance is higher than Id anticipated. Overall just love to own and drive it.

  • Best Value Out There for an SUV! - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my 2nd G.C. in a couple of years. What a treat to drive! Compared to the foreign bubbles and even Ford and GMs tired designs, the Grand Cherokee has them beat, hands down. Chryslers incentives are the best in the industry. Gas mileage is consistently in the high teens around town and low to mid 20s on the highway. The 6 cylinder engine has great low end torque and doesnt feel like its straining at all, uphill or on acceleration lanes on the freeway.

  • Best choice for the money!!!! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

We love this vehicle. We bought the straight 6 so we avoided a lot of the headaches associated with the 4x4. An SUV that is reliable and fun to drive. I will never own anything but a Jeep from now on. It has pickup when you need it.

  • best value in class - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I now have 35,000 miles on this Jeep. It gets 17 miles to the gallon on the highway, 15 in the city. Just towed my 20 ft Bayliner to south Florida. It got 14.7 miles to the gallon and I didnt even know it was there. The truck handles great on the road and there are no rattles when on the bad washed out roads. the v8 motor has more power than Chevys or Fords . This is the best truck I have ever owned!

  • Fun but only for so long... - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I really like that it is small and nimble, but also large enough for a family. I bought it new and was told 87 octane was fine. Ive since learned otherwise. It has died on me just sitting at a light several times. I also have had problems with wind noise through the driver door. The key fobs are HORRIBLE. Ive had them worked on (supposedly) at least five times and they still dont work. The absolute worst feature is that if you are in the back you either sweat to death or the passengers in the front freeze to death as they go deaf listening to the air on high.

  • Changing the Bodystyle altogether - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I really like the jeep. I have owned two, 2006 & 2008. It has a few engine flaws but I really like the body type and the smoothness of the ride. Also Jeep should provide quality speakers for the radio and the five cd changer it offers. Please sound proof the inside of the vehicles, you would get a lot more sales for this vehicle too.

I have only had my Jeep for 3 months but compared to my 2002 Jeep (which I also like) the 2005 is a great improvement.
