Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Weve had the Jeep for about 2 months and recently took it on a 2,800 mile trip. It rides good for an SUV and the milage on the interstates varied from 18.3 to 20.8 based on speed. We drove it between 70 and 80 MPH most of the time.

  • GREAT VEHICLE...JEEP IS RELIABLE !! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

14 GC Overland 5.7L Hemi 4 x 4 with ATG Build Nov. 2013-- 14 is my 4th JGC since 99, and by far the BEST. Ive had ZERO issues--major or minor since bought in Dec. 13 @ 3,000 miles now--mixture of heavy city & highway. Ive put this vehicle through the paces. As far as reliability, my Jeeps have only once left me stranded--dead battery. 05 GC at 80k mi needed transfer case replaced, but Jeep could be driven. 10 days in shop, but all under warranty. After reading all negative reviews on transmission and NAV system, rented one before buying--NO ISSUES. This is a German designed & built transm. used in all new Audi, BMW, even Jag, Bentley, Rolls, Land Rover, Maserati.

  • These cars last forever - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have owned a previous Jeep Laredo 4WD and had over 208,000 miles on it when I sold it for $2,850.00 last week. This one just turned 200,000 miles and runs perfectly. Very dependable and good looking. Excellent value for the money. I paid $4000.00 for a loaded model and everything works.

  • The Champ Is Here... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I am the proud owner of a brand new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. Before you even step in the car you notice the sleek body lines, the cool new look, and the key/remote entry. Once inside, the new car smell hits you and your body conforms to the interior. For the left hand driver, one hand goes to the wheel, the right elbow goes for the center console, and the right hand sits on the shifter. When you begin driving, the smooth, quiet ride are immediately noticed, as well as the nonexistent wind noise. The car accelerates well, able to pass cars with ease.

  • Fool Me Once - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I wanted to buy a 97/98. Instead, I fell in love with the 99 styling. Ive regretted this for the last 8.5 years. The locks lock/unlock at random, AC fan whines at random, the car shut off while driving at 60mph because the computer didnt recognize the chip in the key, the engine fan relay drained the battery twice, CV boots crack easily, the transmission shifts into 2nd too early, the dashboard and console lights dont always turn on, and the door upholstery cracked. Jeep was only able to fix the chip problem. Ill never buy another Jeep.

  • Electronics Problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have owned a Jeep Cherokee for over 35 years, buying a new Jeep every 4 years or so. I have a 2007 JGC that has frustrated me (and the dealership) beyond all limitations. It seems NOTHING is ever covered by the warranty unless it is convenient. The paint is peeling off numerous places (even the roof, go figure) and that is considered normal wear and NOW the biggie. I have spent over $2500 & at least 4 weeks in the shop to repair an electrical lock & alarm/tire pressure system not working/bright lights working at random problem that (it seems) cannot be repaired by any technician (nor engineer) from the factory. They have replaced module after module (yes, at my expense) to no avail.

  • Great Jeep, poorly built - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my first brand-new vehicle. I fell in love with it the moment I test drove the class! I tested the Laredo and found an excellent deal on a Limited, so I took the better options package that come with the Limited. If youre reading this review, you already know the good points of the Limited, so Im only going to focus on the negative: 1. I have had three major leaks that needed extensive re-work of the frame welding around the tailgate. Indicative of poor welding. 2. I have had poorly installed moldings at the driver and passenger door frames; they needed re-installation. 3. Poor gas mileage. All these considered, Jeep warranty replaced and fixed all gripes quickly!

  • A good value - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The first SUV my wife and I ever bought. Of course it is neither a car or a truck. So we dont compare it to either type of vehicle. But it is comfortable, no slouch on the local tollway where one must be able to run to not be a hazard to others. Its big, uses gas at an alarming rate, but I like it. Having dropped a lot of cash for the 4x4 capabilities, rest assured there will be no blizzards in Chicago for a few years!

The best ride in snow on the market. Long drives are a joy, no fatigue.

  • 2004 Rocky Mountain Edition Grand Cherokee - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I purchased my Rocky Mountain Edition as a dealer demo. Fully loaded with all options except the navigation system. It is a Jeep - meaning that it has its quirks and faults. That being said; I wouldnt own anything else. I use this vehicle for my job which is building cell towers in extremely remote and rural areas such as mountain top sites. This Grand Cherokee has never left me stranded and no major problems. But keep in mind that a Jeep does need constant maintenance and care. It is not a Honda or a Toyota that you can abuse and not have any consequences. Flush the tranny every 30k, flush the cooling system every 30k, change out the differential and transfer case fluids every 40k.
