Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

This is a great car if you enjoy spending a lot of money on repairs and bringing it to the shop over and over again.

I had a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. It was my favorite car until I started to have problems with transmission. I hope they have fixed that problem, but I am back to try it again. So far it is great

The style and reliability are the best in the market. You must get the 4.0 and you should get 500 Thousand miles plus. The real reason they quit making the 4.0 was it will not die..Updated 12/16. Still driving it. Will not die so I put New Tires on it and probably couldnt get a New one this reliable.

  • Never again! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This Jeep has been nothing but a headache. The mechanical problems I have had with it: both front power windows (twice), the fuel gauge, replaced brake pads and rotors, the back seat cup holder had to be replaced, trim strips around the sunroof, drivers door window, and rear liftgate all came loose. The loose trim strip around the liftgate caused the spare tire well to fill with water, rusting the spare wheel. The CD player quit working. The transmission had to be replaced at 23,000 miles due to an ear-splitting whine. The only consolation is that all of this occurred in the first three years/36,000 miles while it was still under warranty.

  • Jeepgirl has bought her last Jeep :-( - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my 4th and last Jeep. I have love all my other ones, but this new 2011 is not the same. I went from the V8 Hemi to the new Penstar V6. The MPG are much better, however it is loud and sounds like its in the wrong gear. sometimes i think it might blow up. I have had trouble with the bluetooth it just stops working. they dont know why. the remote start is not always working either. It just does not handle as smooth as my 2005. The power seats do not tilt down in the front like the older Jeeps. I need that to keep the seat from cutting into the back of my legs. sometime change is not for the best.

  • The 08 NOISE! - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is our second Laredo, having purchased one brand new in 98, that we now use as a third vehicle and for the kids to use. Our new one: after driving it for week, we noticed this noise coming from the back of the engine when the radio and everything was off, except the car itself. It is a very annoying noise, clicking sound. We took it back. They pulled another 08 off the lot into the service garage and had us listen to it. It had the same noise! Nothing wrong and nothing they can do about it. Probably would not have purchased an 08 had we heard this before hand. And it says 4wd, when its actually full time awd.

  • junky old jeep - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Great vehicle until about 100,000 miles. After thatlittle things start to add up to kind of a junk pile.

  • ...and, more brakes! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I think that this is a terrific vehicle except for the brakes! Just turned 30K and received my 3rd set of front rotors. Granted, Jeep has been paying for them, but youd figure that they might want to fix this "little" glitch. Also, I wish that the front seat backed up a little more (Im 63"). Other than that, the vehicle is terrific! Handles Minnesota winters with ease (no small task!) Ill just keep putting rotors on as long as they keep paying for them.

  • Very Satisfied Customer - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Prior to owning the 04 jeep grand cherokee, special edition, i owned an Infinit QX4. I will have to say that the grand cherokee feels more solid and has more interior comfort than the Qx4. althought the Qx4 had more bells and whisles...i am enjoying the grand cherokee for its comfort, design and reliability.
