Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Only had for about 6 weeks, but am very happy with it. Fuel economy is slightly less than advertised, but almost all are. GPS system works great but they do not include the latest version of the software, you have to pay an additional $150. You do not know what version you are getting, mine was a couple of revisions old.

  • Love my Jeep - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

If youre looking to get into a Jeep, the new (1999 and up) body style is sharp, and these vehicles are GREAT in bad weather. I use mine to haul computer parts, car parts, and even X- Mas Trees. The first year I had it I actually tried to do snow donuts, no luck. Get the I-6 engine, VERY reliable, will run forever!

  • Good once its fixed - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have the usual brake shimmy and a little drivetrain noise but other than that, after 63000 miles its working well after 7000 dollars worth of waranty repair. If Jeep can get this one right the first time, its an awesome purchase. Dont count on MOPAR to get it right the first time though. They just dont have the track record.

  • Its a blast to drive! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Its fast, fun to drive, handles great for an SUV and a joy to look at. The interior is just as nice as most luxury cars.

  • Not reliable - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this Jeep with 39,000 miles on it. I had to replace two speakers in dash, O ring on fuel pump, rear axle seal, door lock motor and driver seat motor. These repairs were done under warranty. It presently has 71,500 miles on it. If you are buying a Jeep please get the extended warranty. I dont recommend buying a Jeep. ItÂ’s not reliable like my 1994 Toyota Camry.

  • Its a jeep thing I dont understand - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought my Grand Cherokee to replace my 13 year old Isuzu because it was begging to have minor mechanical issues. In hindsight I should have stayed with the old truck. Numerous electrical, cooling/heating, suspension problems which cost $$$. The transmission was unrefined and did not handle mountain driving.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee- Hi Country - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee has been a wonderful vehicle. It has had zero manufacturing flaws, despite being a totally loaded vehicle. The 4WD is unstoppable. We have the Hi Country package which has an inch more ground clearance. This is not a fake SUV its the real thing. A nice plus is Jeep paint. I have never see a post Chrysler purchase Jeep with rust damage (except wher there is serious body damage).

  • Never a Problem - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I leased the Jeep for 36 months and then purchased it. Gas mileage 19 - no real problems except for 3 re-call notices in first 2 years. All covered by Chrysler. Long haul driving can be rough on lower back, but otherwise I love my Jeep.
