The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  The Jeep I own is a strong lopng lasting SUV. Its 12 years old and it still has a strong pick up and can drive through any terrain.

  The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 4WD is not only super-capable off road, but competent and classy enough to drive around town without embarrassment. It is laden with luxury appointments, comfortable and the right size. The only drawback has been the disappointing gas mileage.

  Love JGC, but has Problems - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  Overall the vehicle is wonderful to drive. It has great pickup and power. The inifinity sound system is wonderful. The ride is great. However, there are several mechanical problems on my vehicle. Jeep service is not the greatest and it takes numerous trips to get things fixed. Ive been to several different dealers, some better than others.

  I have been driving German vehicles for years now and I decided to take a detour and give jeep a try. Paid $45,580 (much less than my BMW X6) and have been very happy. I love the transmission because it "feels" German which equates quality. Same with the interior; the steering column is fantastic and the touch screen is simple to figure out and amazing agile. I have read many reviews trashing this car and I dont understand because I have had not one issue with the car since its purchase last August. I drive nearly 100 miles a day and enjoy every mile of it. Many of my co-workers have driven it to lunch and are always impressed (mainly with the technology and the feel of the transmission).

  I have really loved owning my Grand Cherokee but every time I take it for an oil change it costs me money. Nothing seems to be covered under warranty. Hoping I didnt make a mistake.

  good value - 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  Just purchased a Limited with 5.7 V8 Hemi engine. The engine is powerful and provides excellent acceleration. This is my first Jeep ever. My wife and I are happy with the car so far. The build material is decent for an American car, but not as good as other cars we considered (BMW X3, Audi Q5). We decided on the Grand Cherokee because we got a decent deal after the Chrysler rebates and dealer incentives. The major downside is the gas mileage, which has been dismal (for the first tank of gas). But we are weekend drivers so hopefully this is not a major issue.

  ...but this Grand Cherokee is THAT good. Excellent design, fit and finish. Very good value for the money in my opinion. We have only owned for 3 weeks so far, but have taken a road trip and found the J GC very comfortable all around. The electronics all work fine, and the ergonomics are well laid-out. The voice recognition system is also very convenient and helps keep the drivers focus on the road where it belongs. We have had to take the J GC in for one issue - 3 days into ownership the airbag light came on. Turns out an airbag sensor in the door became disconnected. Must not have been attached firmly at the Jeep factory in Michigan. Once plugged back in all has been well.

  My First SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

  I traded a 2000 VW Jetta in for a 2004 Grand Cherokee. While I was a bit shocked at the much bigger gas tank and gas cost, I truly love this car! It has been a pleasure driving it around town and on long trips. I like the feeling of sitting up higher than other drivers while not losing the comfort of luxury found in the Grand Cherokee.

  My Jeep has been nothing but good to me. I really use it off road plus drive it to work everyday. Its been the perfect vehicle for someone who truly uses their 4WD. In winter, Ive driven it through a solid foot + of snow for hundreds of feet and it made it (barely).. try that in a Ford Explorer HA! Great vehicle for the northeast
