Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Either my wife or myself have had the comparable products. The last being the ML Benz. When taking the "mine" ML to the dealer I passed Chrysler Jeep of North Olmsted and saw the 2011 Jeep. Out of blue I stopped in after servicing the ML. Surprisingly without being caused any stress by the salesman, I decided to drive one of these. AT roughly $25,000 less the the ML, the Jeep has the ride, the quite, the handsfree cell, Nav. with traffic. I drive a great deal, also spend the drive time on the phone. This new jeep is the best deal out there. I must say that they sold me one, and after my wife went with me to pick up the car, she ordered one for herself! Thank you.

  • Great Mid-Sized SUV - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive owned my 2002 Grand Cherokee Since Sept. 2001. We have the Laredo V8, with leather, sunroof, heated seats, and the upgraded audio package. This is my 4th Jeep, and the 3rd Grand Cherokee in our family. We have two kids, two dogs, two jet skis, and a 24 power boat - this truck handles it all. I have only had one major repair related to the defroster, but it was expensive ($1000). I follow the maintenance schedule and get great reliability. We live in Chicago, and I never get slowed down because of snow. Im getting ready to trade this one in, and am looking for the same model with low miles. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a really functional SUV.

My 4th Grand Cherokee and thus far the best! Suprising performance from the 4.7 HO engine, best build quality to date and a teriffic 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. This vehicle takes on the luxury imports (MB & BMW) and wins on every feature and specification. A tremendous value for the price!

  • Ive had 3 2005-2007 Grands and liked them all - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

After my 2005 Grand (Laredo 4.7L V8 4x4) was totaled while still going strong at 171,000 miles, I replaced it with a used 2007 Grand Laredo V6 which is now up to 182,000 miles and still doing great. So I added a second 2007 Grand Laredo V8 which is also doing great at 96,000 miles, and handed the V6 over to the college student. Excellent on snow and ice in the winter, as well as back roads and New England mud season, yet highway ride is fine too. Very little has had to be done to any of them except normal maintenance and replacing worn-out items which were no surprise for the mileage. Some reviews complain about headroom but Im only 51" so no problem. Id happily buy one again.

  • First new SUV in 17 years. Glad I waited! - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Just drove home in my new Limited with the Hemi and luxury package. Drove the Volvo XC60/90, Audi Q5, Mercedes ML350, Land Rover LR2/4 and Lexus GX. All were nice as youd expect a new car to be but only the ML350 and Audi came cross to the drive and none to the cost/engineering/features/value that define the new Grand Cherokee. Im driving it 2900 miles in two weeks, Ill update my post after breaking it in on long road trip. Cant wait!

  • Good styling poor reliability - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

The Bad: AC problems common (some easily fixed for DIY) Brake system very poor design (cause rotors to be replaced more often) Radio system starts out as a plus until you crank it than it becomes a negative because there is no band pass thus you blow the tweeters Window motors go out quite frequently (4 sets on mine now) Brake lights have a fault (have you not noticed this on other jeeps on the road yet) Not easily fixed or tracked down Strut system sucks The Good: Its paid off

  • One Year Anniversary - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Its been exactly one year to the day that I have owned my Jeep and I am very pleased with it. Its my first Jeep so I dont have a comparison with respect to improvements, but I can say it offers solid performance, its easy to drive and provides great value. Mine is loaded with every option and with the Hemi gets decent mileage.

  • Unexpected changes for 2015. No more dual exhausts. - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I took delivery of my new 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited this week. Unfortunately, I failed to notice that for 2015, Jeep has eliminated the sporty dual exhausts for the Limited, which is very surprising for their most popular selling model. Aesthetics were part of my decision for the Grand Cherokee and this is a horrible design decision by Jeep. It cheapens the look of the high-end Limited model down to an ordinary Laredo and ruins the symmetry of the car from the back. Having just shelled over $45K for a Limited, I expected better. This is a very cheapskate decision and shame on Jeep.

  • Fun to Drive! - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought this off a good friend who drove it on the highway alot with 112,00 now 18 months later it has 122,000. Really no repairs have been done and it just started on its 3rd set of tires. Seal between transfer case and tranny replaced. Door speakers are junk I have replaced all 4 but the rest rocks! NOISY on the highway from either tires or differential.
