Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Countless Problems with 8.4" Screen-Radio - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive owned my 2014 GC Overland V8 for about 6 months. After 3 months my screen froze and radio/hvac went haywire. The radio froze on full blast and the hvac froze on full heat. The knobs did nothing and the touch screen was completely frozen. Screen/radio unit was completely replaced. Dealer forgot to transfer my sirius subscription, so spent over an hour on the phone with sirius explaining that I did not purchase a new radio, blah, blah. New unit seemed to solve my problems. Then about three months later, the screen completely turned off as I was on the highway. Been dead for about a month. No radio, backup camera, etc. Dealer is going to replace unit AGAIN.

I just purchased a grand cherokee as a replacement for a four-month old Nissan Pathfinder. I am very pleased with the Grand Cherokee, and the comfortable seats and theinterior dimensions are the main reasons I made the change.

Lots of power to drive the interstates of country roads. Handles like a sedan, with all the comforts of a luxury import.

  • Take care of your vehicle - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive been a Jeep person for 25 years. Ive owned nearly every model at one time or another and there are few vehicles which can come close to the craftsmanship these vehicles are built with. I am religious when it comes to maintaining my rigs (especially the CJ) and because of that, they last far longer than the same vehicle in "average Joes" hands. Most negative comments are from people who do nothing more than gas and go and expect the car to last forever. It just doesnt happen. Treat this vehicle right and itll take you anywhere you want to go.

  • Dont Do It! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Sold my 14 Jeep GC today. First American car in 20 yrs. Biggest $50K mistake of my life. Replaced it with a Lexus NX that will give me no trouble. First 10 weeks of owning this Jeep - dashboard went black, service department AWFUL and have had it back in the shop every few months for other issues; including rear shock failure at 16K miles that caused daily creaking and clunking in the rear end. "The most awarded SUV" is a complete piece of junk. Old Jeep Service Dept. not meant for a luxury vehicle experience (looked like a Kmart) new Lexus Service Dept. treat me like royalty (beautiful place). I will NEVER buy American again. There is no reason they cant build good cars. Took a loss, but so glad to be rid of it. I felt sad b/c it looked good, just didnt run and ate gas like no other car Ive owned. BEWARE.

This car has been bullet-proof. I have had no problems and can fully rely on it to get me where I need to go comfortably. I have been told (per my mechanic) that the straight-6 2wd version of this car is in a different league than the v8 4wd, which tend to come with many more mechanical problems. Fuel economy is between 18 and 23...no complaints!!

  • Run away - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought a 2014 GC Summit diesel for Christmas less than a month old and been into the dealer 3 times. This last time tranny is stuck in 3rd gear, all I can say is do not buy this vehicle! You have been warned! If you are even considering a Heep run away, run far away....

I Bought this Jeep in 2005 brand new. It has been reliable and fun to drive. I drive about 35000 miles a year and this vehicle has served me well. I only took it to the dealer a few times and the rest of the time the local oil change place. It has 201,000 miles on it and I am going to trade it in for something that gets better mileage. No major problems. Maybe they run better when you run the heck out of em!

I bought this jeep used, I have only had it 6 months. It has 64,000 miles on it. It has no warranty on it because i bought it used. I took it to the dealership and it now needs a new transmission, which they quoted $3,00-$4000.

My then girlfriend, now wife, was thrilled with the jeep, for the first 6 months. Then the little stuff started; bad locks and windows, rattles and squeeks...We got married...now its summer, shes pregnant, NO A/C... 4 trips to the dealer....still NO A/C...and they actually managed to undo a lock fix they did 6 weeks ago....Now, we are trying to get a loaner, wife is due soon, not sure when/if jeep will be fixed....
