Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Great SUV - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The only problem I had with this Jeep was I had 27000 miles on it and the tranny went and I was not under the warranty. But other then that I love it nothing bad except the tranny

  • Pretty Good, So Far - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I chose the Grand Cherokee over rival suvs for value and perceived "heavier duty". For the last three years, its been a good performer. Id like better gas mileage (getting about 17-18 MPG in mixed driving with six cylinder). No major repairs. Dislikes: $200 cost to drain/refill differentials; significant rust on all lower window sill trim. Ive noticed the sill trim rust on virtually every Grand Cherokee Ive looked at with the same body style as mine. Replacement Dunlop Radial Rover tires much, much better than oem Goodyear Wrangler ST for traction and handling, although I think I may have lost some fractional MPG. Manual 4x4 lever takes considerable effort to move, although its not a major flaw.

  • Air Ride a disaster - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I guess you could say I was almost completely satisfied with my Summit until some one crashed into me. That was March 30th and my car still has not been returned to me! Why? Because Jeep cannot fix the air ride! Dealership repair people tell me once an air ride goes out in a vehicle its a usually is a continual nightmare. However Jeep says it can be fixed, so why has it taken close to 5 months and they dont seem to be any closer to fixing it. So, the persons insurance does not want to total it since they feel it should be Jeeps problem to fix it. They will not take responsibility Im left to dry and am no closer to getting my car returned to me. I will never again buy an air ride so BEWARE!

  • Reliable 4WD Un Reliable Brakes - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Great 4WD ability in the snow/ice and when I surf fish the beaches of North Carolina.I have helped several of the "so called SUVs" get un stuck. Most of the small street SUVs just cant handle the harsher off road conditions. The main flaw of the vehicle is its brakes. I had to turn or replace the front rotors 4 times in 40,000 miles only onced covered under warranty at the 11,000 mile mark.I suggest this vehicle for any one that needs a good 4 wheel drive.I would rate my vehicle as dependable. Only one mechanical failure beside the common brake problem which was quickly taken care of under warranty. (Trans sensor)

  • Awaful SUV - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

My 2003 Jeep GC is almost new!!! because I have had every thing replaced in it. Some very common problems are fan relay, rotors, window mechnism, interior lighting, rusting, hydrolics to hold hood and hatch door, wipers. I also have had problems with parking gear, reverse transmission, front axle, radiator, all bushings are rotten, air bag mechanism has malfunctioned, CD player makes clunking sound, turn signalling system has malfunctioned, has lot of air noise, a/c is smelly, all shock absorbers have been replaced, brake claipers have jammed front wheels. Dealships are bad, expensive, non-courteous, time consuming. Will never buy it again, will not recommend anyone to buy.

Color being stone white doesnt show road dirt, easy to clean. Very comfortable seats.Visabilty very good.

  • Wonderful Jeep - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have enjoyed ownership of my 1998 Grand Cherokee. It has a wonderful ride. The seats are as comfortable as a recliner. It has been almost problem- free. The cost of ownership has been approximately $250 above the purchase price and maintenance. Fuel economy has been 15/24 mpg with an average highway mileage of 22.5 mpg. This is my second Cherokee. I plan to purchase another soon.

  • Love it - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

So far, love the SUV. Went from a Toyota car to an SUV, rides better! One has to remember it is a truck/SUV and therefore the fuel efficiency is lower than a car. Love the 4X4. The Limited has many extras!

  • This Jeep Rocks! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Wife bought this as a surprise b-day present. Great surprise! Thought we were going to have to go smaller, but got a great deal and the Jeep has been great so far. Had it for about six weeks and took it on a 2600-mile trip to VA and back; performed like a champ and got 20 MPG with the 4.7L V8! Comfortable, roomy and looks terrific in Inferno Red Tint Pearlcoat. Easy to get into and out of. Looking forward to facing the challenges a Minnesota winter will throw at it. So far, so good - Im thrilled with my first Jeep!
