Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Fix them brakes!!! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ems1507 - September 29 - 10:00 amThis is my 4th Jeep Cherokee, and Im generally happy with the car. However I too have had to do brake work at 20,000 miles, and it is starting to feel like it is going to need it again at 33,000. I will look at the new Ford Explorer next year, my confidence in Jeep is starting to shake.

3 years later - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By luvjeepsrt - September 28 - 6:53 pmPurchased new early 08 with every option. My 3 year check in-54k miles. 7 brake jobs, odd considering it was 90% highway driving....27 incidents of check engine light coming on-2 pcms replaced, 2 exhaust manifold gaskets, various cracked pieces of plastic broken while at the dealer while being repaired that will cost a fortune to replace (dealer of course denies). Never driven it rough, never had an accident. Dealer experiences hit and miss, most see unable to address SRT issues and how to fix properly.

Great SUV for the money - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DAVE - September 27 - 10:30 pmBought the Jeep Grand Cherokee with 80,000 and have been totally happy with the vehicle. Even at 6 years and 80K it looks and drives like new. Lots of power and still gets 25 MPG on the highway. Turns more heads than any other $9,000 vehicle I know of.

Never again... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By krey - September 26 - 7:53 pmMy car is in the shop once again for transmission issues. The engine malfunction light is getting to be my constant driving companion. Not only is the vehicle a gas hog (dont believe the window sticker folks) but its totally unreliable. And the service I receive at the dealership matches the vehicle: SUB- PAR. No wonder the big three are in so much trouble...you get what you give.

Great replacement vehicle - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By manolo - September 26 - 10:00 amI bought my Jeep as a replacement for a totaled 97 Mitsu Montero LS. I bought it with 98k miles and have gone up to 154k. In that time Ive replaced oil seals, brakes, and cooling system (myself). Even though Ive invested about $2000 in recondition costs, Ive no regrets. This Jeep has proven itself many times better than the Mitsu Montero. It is sure footed on ice and snow, takes the desert heat, and sits steady in strong headwinds.I close my eyes when I fill up the tank and dont even bother thinking about MPGs. Its a real 4X4 and thats all that matters.I know it will take me anywhere I want to go.

Great Car - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Love my Jeep - September 26 - 10:00 amWith close to 20000 miles not a single problem. The car handles great, fun to drive and is great on trips. The head room is very good this is from someone who is 63", much more than the 4Runner. The price for the options is much better than the explorer or 4Runner. We bought the Jeep after Ford bought back our lemon Escape. We could not be happier.

First Jeep - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By skycop1226@gmail.com - September 25 - 12:47 amI believe that the overall value of this vehicle comparring ride comfort, affordability and quality put it at a moderately high level. Recently moved from South Florida to the northwest corner of Arkansas. I soon realized with the approaching winter my 2015 BMW 428i coupe was not going to survive the snow and ice associated with winters in this area. Taking all the variables into account , I started researching viable four-wheel-drive SUVs. Comparing the cost-benefit ratios and my needs as a single person, I chose the Grand Cherokee over other Jeep models and the competition. My 4 x 4 Limited is a nice mixture of the luxury amenities as well as the traditional Jeep practicality. Not 100% sold on the 20 inch wheels however. Without purchasing the upgraded off road terrain package, it was only available in the 20 inch platform. For the individual wanting to truly experience the off-road, I would recommend upgrading and purchasing the 18 inch wheels. If youre looking for a performance vehicle, the 3.6 may not be the engine for you. With fuel cost currently being as low as they are, Im personally wishing I had purchased the V8. Must I must say, I didnt purchase it as a performance vehicle though, so the 3.6 will suffice. Interior visibility is less than optimal, but thats attributable to exterior styling. I must say, shifting the automatic transmission takes some getting used to. I actually took it back to the shop because I couldnt get it into park without getting stuck in reverse. Then going through a two-step process of reengage the "release button" and jamming it forward. After a little tutelage and practical application it was determined that it was operator error. Ha! All in all, I must say that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a nice blend of luxury, modern styling and practical usage.

Review - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By buy it!!!!! - September 24 - 12:00 amThis is the best car i have ever had. The 4x4 works geart and you cant go wrong with the I6 its the best motor in the world! I have 109,000 miles on it and the only thing that goes out is the radiator and the power streeing. This Jeep looks great with a 4in lift and 31s and it goes any where at anytime through mud and snow it does it all. Gas miles will drop if you lift it. If I could do it all again I would just add tires and rims if you do that youll be able to go most place a Landrover can with a lower price!

Sounded like a good SUV @ time - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ana - September 18 - 2:00 amWhere should I start mmm...bought with 42,000 in 99, interior hardware failing, side mirrors memory set failing, stereo buttons sticky hard to change mode, heating seats dont work anymore, back wiper sticky, replaced CV boots(@93k),power steering brackets before 90k, theres acouple of other things that have failed right before it hit 100K but overall still runs great. Weve been across the border twice and other long trips in the state, not sure what other SUV we could have bought at time (NOT FORD). Would like to sell but only for gas mileage reasons, I drive alot in town.
