Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

02 Overland, Over-rated - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ackdog RI - October 29 - 11:16 amThis is my 7th Jeep product. The 1st six were great vehicles except for one transmission in a 93 Grand Cherokee. My 02 JGC Overland has had nothing but problems in 111K miles. Brakes, electrical gremlins, heater core @ 99K and now a transmission @ 109K miles. The tech who rebuilt the tranny says rear end due very soon. The car has all highway and some beach miles, so it hasnt been used hard. When the car runs its a dream. Too bad it likes the shop more than my garage. Maintenance is per the manufacturer schedule. Build quality and reliability of the main parts is suspect. 100K miles is not excessive nowadays. This car should go 200K-300K for the price.

One big shiny let-down! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dessi - October 28 - 5:23 amMy husband and I purchased this vehicle to have something safer and more dependable for our future family. We have barely owned this thing for a little over a month and it has been in the shop for its forth time now! After putting the first full tank of gas in it after purchase we got a check-engine light. Was not fixed the first time so we had to take it back in for a second and third visit. Now the lights on the dash panel flash on and off, check engine light still comes on, gauges fluctuate, and the automatic trans will not shift when driving. I am very disappointed. We are giving the dealership one more chance to make this right then we are done with it.

I hate this car..... - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jlp60 - October 27 - 7:30 pmThis is my 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee, and by far my least favorite. Every feature in this car has been thought out (excuse me - not thought out) to be for driver safety and passenger comfort. 1) I love that quick automatic turn signal that only blinks 3 times. Works so poorly in heavy traffic. Its a great feature when you drive put a turn signal on and when finishing changing lanes the signal flashes as though you are turning back to thee lane you came from. 2) I always love a car that lurches when starting to move forward. 3) I have driven rear wheel drive cars that handle snow better than my 4x4 Jeep.

Modifications are Fun! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By LuckyAZ - October 27 - 9:43 amI have the 5.7L Hemi and have added a performance chip and cold air intake. This made the Jeep awesome off-road and fun in-town. I love going on the trails, and then beating performance sedans in town.

Refinement and New Technology - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Tom Hiland - October 25 - 4:43 amThis previous Jeep GC owner (1993 & 1996 models) left the fold in 2001 for a Pathfinder. Limited supply on the new 2005 Nissan led me to the new JGC Limited. What a surprise! Nothing like the Grand Cherokees of the 90s. Exterior styling is sharp, the 2005 is feature rich, the 4.7 has more than adequate power to climb the on-road hills and passes in the Colorado Rockies, steering is very responsive and the cabin is quiet. In four words "refinement and new technology" and perhaps influence from the Daimler folks have created an exciting vehicle thats nimble and fun to drive. Interior plastics, backseats and cargo capacity leave room for improvement, but the new JGC is a winner!

its a Jeep! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ryan - October 24 - 2:56 pmI have had three Jeeps now, two of which were Wranglers. Although I still love the Wranglers, they cant compare to the everyday capabilities of my Cherokee. I have a 99 Limited and have yet to encounter any problems. The power is great coming from the 4.7L engine and the overall quality is superior. It goes great in the snow. Ive had to pull out Blazers before in places that my Jeep wouldnt even bat an eye at. This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned and will definitely buy the new 05 Hemi within the next few weeks.

Love the Hemi Soccer Moms need not apply - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By cyclone1 - October 21 - 6:50 amI traded in an Acura RSX for the Family Truckster. I also own a Mazda Tribute. The Hemi is a must Have option. I would say that I am very happy so far but I do have a couple of issues. First the warrantee is very limited. With Acura the warranty covered everything up to 50K. This warranty is not even close, so be warned. Also I am wandering if anyone else has noticed what I term fluttering of the engin at low RPMs going up hill? I might be just feeling something that is not there. Finally, your vision is limited with the low profile windows. The SUV has great power. The style is much better than the normal soccer mom SUVs and all the features are useful. For the price this rocks

Jeep Grand Cherokee Review - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By carsrule444 - October 18 - 12:00 amThe 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an important vehicle for Chrysler. Under its new FIAT ownership, Chrysler has kicked up everything a million notches in performance, safety, looks, quality, reliability, design, and fun in this new Jeep. borrowing parts from the next-generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class, The new Jeep is much more composed, agile, and fun to drive while retaining its extreme off road capabilities. Engines offered are a 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. its a strong engine, but when put in a car over 4,000 lbs, well, not so much. The optional 5.7L V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque pulls effortlessly for 0-60 under 7 secs. overall this car is truly perfect.
