Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Not good - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By abdixon - January 5 - 10:13 pmI loved this Jeep when I first bought it 11-06. 12-23-06 I was on my way out of town for Christmas when the transmission went out 100 mi from home with no warning. 1 yr 3 mo later the trans is going out again. Keeps slipping out of gear and sticking in 2nd. There was another Jeep (an 07) at the same shop, same day, with the same problem and the mechanics said theyre seeing this a lot. Apparently the problem is the ZF trans. Its also used in other vehicles and some of them are having problems. Jeep looks good but isnt dependable. I guess some people are having good luck with theirs but many others are not. If you Google Jeep transmission problems youll find a lot of information.

I Love My Jeep - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mary - January 3 - 10:13 pmI was the second owner for this vehicle and I have never regretted buying it. I had just gone through a divorce and had to travel across country. I have never had any problems with my jeep except the recall on the radiator which was fixed right away. Ive changed the tires once and have only had to change the oil and transmission fluid. Im about to sell it now at 17,000 miles and am very afraid I will not find a vehicle as reliable. I highly recommend this year for a Jeep if it is a I6!

J:ust E:mpty E:very P:ocket - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By NO MORE JEEPS FOR ME - December 31 - 5:36 amI drove this off the lot as happy as can be. I loved every aspect, heated leather, 4 wheel drive, Sunroof, DVD system, etc. I was thrilled during my first year of ownership (I purchased the Jeep with 40K miles). The second year of ownership has been nothing but problems. I have had constant problems with all electrical components (dash lights, A/C, etc). The Jeep turns off unexpectedly... I have had multiple Certified Chrysler dealers look at the problem and nobody has found a fix. The issues arent constant; they come and go... very annoying. I will not purchase a Jeep again.

Poor workmanship - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Rajnesht - December 31 - 2:00 amThe car has been more at the dealership than my 90 Mazda. Its electricals are extremely poor quality, and you can expect leakages in differentials every 2-6 months.

Another Love - Hate relationship - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ZeeJ - December 31 - 2:00 amBeen in for warranty service 3 times now in the past 4 months, coolant leak, check engine light (O2 sensor), H2O pump. What next??? Handles poorly - Steering isnt very precise. I depend on my 4WD vehicles in Baja and right now I do not trust this one. I am looking at using it for a trade-in for a 4WD crew cab PU. What a shame!

Fourth Jeep - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jeeper - December 31 - 2:00 amJeeps have been our primary vehicle since 1996. I wish we had discovered Jeeps sooner. We take road trips in comfort (desert, mountain, Mexico), go to off road events several times a year, drive it around town and commute to work. Now we have QuadraDrive which allows us to drive in deeper snow, sleet and ice. When we go skiing, this Jeep is like a goat for getting to the slopes and out of the parking lot. There is nothing close the excellent price/performance of this vehicle. I will never be without one again.

Best jeep Ive owned - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ssignore - December 31 - 2:00 amI love this Jeep. Ive owned a CJ7, a Laredo, and another Grand Cherokee. This one is the best. My wife and I like it better than the Touareg and Mercedes ML350 that we test drove. Its comfortable, luxurious and a great ride. I left a Mercedes C320 for it and I dont regret it a bit.
