Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Better than the 2000 Version. - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Well, this is my 4th Jeep. Ive owned a 87 Jeep Cherokee, 97 Cherokee, 00 Jeep Grand Cherokee & finally this 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The first Jeep was a nightmare. I swore I would never buy another Jeep. The 2nd & 3rd Jeep changed my opinion. The product has gotten better.

  • You need one - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

During the last week we have had two major snow storms along the front range in Colorado. Thought I would take the opportunity to let people know how great this vehicle is. Our 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited with Hemi is my wife’s daily driver. We use the Jeep to take the family into moderate off road areas and to pull a utility trailer (for toys) from time to time. Just a great vehicle. Virtually unstoppable in the snow—very impressed. P.S. Have an experienced Jeep Dealer balance the wheels if you have the "vibration" issue. After some frustration, my dealer was able to fix my issue (3rd visit). Bought new tires elsewhere--did not balance wheels properly.

Overall, a solid buy. Like the comfortable seating. Could definitely use improvements in AC, mileage.

  • Does everything but fill itself with fuel - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I searched every Jeep dealer in the US after configuring the vehicle I wanted. I ended up buying in Cedar Rapids from Pat Mc Grath Jeep. This vehicle is equipped with a 5.7 HEMI that gets about the same mileage as the 3.8 V6 Rubicon I traded in. The sound system is awesome and the adaptive cruise control is and experience! I started with Jeeps in 89 and the features and the quality keeps improving. My mileage includes several 0 to illegal speed runs as that is how I have always broken them in.

  • Transmission Problems? - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

For those who have a hard shift in your transmission when cold or muggy OR the transmission has a hard time engaging. I finally found the problem after 8 months of taking notes and driving to the dealership. Talk with the transmission technician and ask to run a diagnostic on the transmission pump and valves. The transmission bleeds pressure overnight and the pump isnt pushing the fluid into the transmission fast enough, also the valves are misfiring and opening valves to build pressure instead of closing them. Hope this helps.

  • A Durable, Do-Anything SUV - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

First Jeep I have owned and I have to say its been a pleasure. Purchased pre-owned w/ 52K miles. Have had no major maintenance issues in 3+ years and going strong with just over 90K miles on it. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs and the Jeep (w/ a Thule box on roof) is a great sized vehicle that can go ANYWHERE!..and in comfort too. Great power, very comfortable, looks cool, drives great and very reliable. Love it, and will definitely consider replacing it w/ another Jeep someday.

  • major headache and dangerous vehicle - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I thought i loved my jeep. After the first 2000 miles, while being transitioned from neutral to drive at the car wash, the vehicle instantaneously accelerated on its own causing a 3 car pile up in the exit ramp of a car wash injuring one of te attendants. Whats almost worse is the fact hat i cant go anywhere without worrying whether or not my car will let itself out of park. Ive had the console gear shifter replaced 3 times while under warranty, and again now for the 4th time. @ $700 for the repaint that seemingly never lasts longer than 10 months, i hate the car and would rather walk than own another jeep again.

  • So far so good... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I picked up my Cherokee a couple weeks ago and am excited as ever to be driving it. Im impressed with its refinements over the previous years editions, although I wish I could have swung a model with the larger engine. It has sufficient power for most folks needs and since I dont do much towing it should be just fine. The dark khaki pearlcoat finish has turned a few heads and my friends are green with envy. Seems to handle with ease any road conditions so far. All in all, a lot of fun to drive. Well just have to see how it holds up as time goes by.

  • Everything you need - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought my Jeep with 41,000 miles and now have 90,000. I have have done no major repairs; only brakes and tires - water pump is getting a slow leak though. Very powerful and fun to drive. I used to update vehicles every 2 years but this one has everything I need so I dont need to upgrade. Luxuries match those in expensive luxury cars! Performs great in snow in mud as well as on road. Very comfortable vehicle as long as only 2 people or 4 short ones.
