Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Back to my Jeep - 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Traded in my dearly loved Hemi sedan for the new Jeep with the Hemi and HID lighting. The sedan was exciting but after crawling into this new Jeep I felt I was back with my go anywhere and do anything vehicle. We are an all Jeep family now and this new Grand Cherokee is by far the best of the 9 Jeeps I have previously owned.

I have only had the Overland V8 for a couple of days, but I love it. Got the mineral gray with the saddle leather interior. Best color combination out there. Jeep has done a wonderful job with the new Grand Cherokee. The interior feels like a luxury vehicle. Had a Range Rover Sport until August when the lease was up. I was shopping the LR4, but with the new Grand Cherokee I couldnt justify the price difference. Couldnt justify the maintenance price difference also.

Bought this truck a couple weeks ago. Color is Driftwood/Pearl. 5.2 v8. Automatic O/D Quadra Trac, Up Country Suspension Group, Infinity Gold Sound, All the bells and whistles etc... Very powerful low end torque, Quick! Smokes all other MPVs they cant keep up. Went to the rock quarry where I work and climbed our bulldozer trail with it! As good as my 72 Scout 2 on the climb with all the gadgets! Kids love it, Girlfriend loves it! 18 mpg city/ 24 hwy! 91000 miles, clean. One thing though is that other "SUV" (i hate that term) drivers seem jealous and tend to try and push a guy around! Go figure! Not my fault they have an Explorer or what not!

  • Too many problems - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

With 19000 miles on this Jeep I can honestly say that we made a mistake in purchasing it. Its been in the shop twice for transmission problems (one nearly leaving my wife and child stranded), the steering column began coming apart inside and making a horrible cracking sound, theres a persistent leak in the passenger side "A" pillar the dealer cant find, the tire monitoring system says the tires are always low even when their not so its useless to us, and we got 16 MPG on an all highway 1100 mile trip recently. Chrysler says the 4.7 gets 20 HWY? This is my second (and last) Grand and definitely my last Chrysler product. As soon as its out of the shop its sold.

  • not good - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We just put 52,000 miles on the Jeep in 3 years. The first 3 years were great, but as soon as we got to around 49,000 miles the issues started. First the heater went causing the AC and heat to stop ($600 in repairs) and now the car started bucking (as seen in another review) and thats going to cost me around $300. Of course this happens after warranty expires. Weve done all the maintenance work, but this sort of things should not happen on Jeeps top of the line car. Not worth it. Get the Laredo for 1/3rd less and save up for repairs.

I love my jeep. It has been a great car. No problems until 120,000 miles. Had to replace Transmission at 130,000. Brakes now are replaced every other year. Radiator blew at 155,000 and just lost my steering pump. Would buy another. lost the A/C at 125,000 and still problematic.

93 Jeep Grnd.Chrkee. is the only vehicle I owned the longest! It has great steering, it carries anything u load on it =even my mother in law :( = Parts are easy to find and fairly priced, its ready for long road trips, off road, and inner city driving. The foldable seats help a lot when loading cargo, It has amazing wheel traction! I had 3 accidents and on all three I came out on top- MEANING: The jeep never flipped, minor body damage, all 4 wheels remained on the ground from beginning to end, and the vehicle keeps in control. Its a pretty solid vehicle I recommend it!

  • My Second Cherokee - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my second 4WD Jeep Cherokee. I bought because I had such a good experience with my 1991 (which had over 250k miles on it when I sold it). My 2001 has 90k miles on it and, other then normal maintenance (I change the oil regularly every 3k miles) it has been a great vehicle for me. I plan to keep it for another 5 yrs and will likely replace it with another Jeep.

  • Jeep is the Best - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the best built vehicles that I have owned in the past 25 years. Purchased brand new. Vehicle has 170k miles and still purrs like a cat. Oil changes every 3k miles and trans & axles every 35k. A/C compressor replaced at 120k miles, water pump at 70k. My teenager is now using it, and loves it. My mechanic wanted to buy it for his teenager b/c he thought it was in great condition. Jeep did a great job when designing this vehicle.
