Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Chrysler will not stand by the product. - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We bought our 2014 Overland in December of 2013. It isnt six months old yet, and the leather is pealing on the lower part of the drivers side seat. We had to make two trips to the dealership in order to have the manager take pictures so that he could then send them to Chrysler. Chrysler says they will not fix it. Too bad, because other than the leather pealing, it is a great vehicle. However, I am afraid to think of what I would have to prove if something went wrong with the drive train. BUYER BEWARE. If they wont fix something small like leather, what will happen with something big?

We bought this Jeep from my husbands employer after he had driven it for about 6 years. He loved it and only missed 1 day of work in all those years (because of ice) because of the weather and we live 45 minutes away. Ive been driving it ever since and I love it. Its so fun. The paint looks like new still (when its clean--we live on a gravel road). I know its going to go on the snow, and stop too. It has 283000 miles on it and did have the transmission rebuilt at 225000. I like the computer. A drunk driver hit it yesterday so Im not sure whether well fix it back up--its not worth too much to anyone else at this point, especially the insurance company.

I just bought the car because I have a child and wanted something that was spacious and safe at the same time. I think I have made a great choice in what I chose. The car to me rides so smooth for being a somewhat slender suv. I honestly thought it would be a little bumby and I was pleastly suprised. So far I have only had the car for a few day but I love it. I was also kind of worried about the gas mileage with it being a v8, It actually gets pretty good gas mileage. Overall I would say this is a wonderful car.

I would have to say that this is the best jeep ever built, I bought it a few years ago with 100,000 miles it currently have over 260,000 miles. It is in great shape minus the only problem I have come across and will complain about is the gas mileage Im glad I did not purchase the V8 version! I cant honestly say the only thing I have ever did to it was the reg services and a thermostat which is common.Other than that a great first car, Now proudly am buying a new Jeep Liberty I hope it holds up as well as my JGC limited , truly is a great car would recommend it to anyone. I am a little weary about the location of the gas tank though. Also it goes great in the snow never been stuck in up to 3fsnow

  • a few problems - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Overall, this is an OK vehicle. My major complaints are the same as everyone elses...brakes warped at 12K, dealer machined for me free but they are bad a again at 24K. Have 26K now and realize Jeep has a TSB otu on the brakes. Dealer is supposed to add a kit to spread the pads further from the rotors and replace the rotors and pads for free. Heritage in Bel Air, MD wont so this for me. Unsure highway driving as steering is a bit loose. But everything else is OK.

  • Great Ride! - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I traded a ram truck on the Laredo with the leather and hemi engine. Edmunds does not list the hemi engine in the review drop down menu for some reason, you listening edmunds? With the hemi it flat out moves..quickly. Of course gas mileage is terrible but I knew that trading from a hemi truck. Quality seems good so far but I only have 800 miles on it. The Cherokee is not a very large vehicle, I wish it was just a tad bit larger but it has good drivability. If you can afford it get the quadra lift and 20 inch wheels and quadra drive for better function and driving.

This is a gas hog in city driving and I drive it as gently as possible! Good MPG on the hwy at steady speed. Rear window and rear pillars too thick, blind spots. Tire pressure monitoring system comes on in cold weather for no reason. Interior finished with plastic, plastic and more hard plastic. Too much interference from traction control on icy streets, impossible to turn if off completely.

Im glad to be back in a Jeep! I have been driving them since my first car purchase at 18 years old (Im 40). I was given a GMC Envoy from my last employer and have been Jeepless for the last 4 years! The GMC was great but didnt compare to my new 08 Hemi Overland JGC. It drives and preforms like a dream!

  • Best Ive owned - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is undoubtedly the best car I have ever owned. 63000 miles and its never been in the shop, still has the original tires and battery. Never had a breakdown. Uses no oil. Fun to drive and comfortable. Gas mileage could be better for an SUV this size at 17 mpg but the rest makes up for it.
