Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Another Rotor Problem - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By whasupdoc - April 28 - 10:00 amI agree 100% with kselle (6/30/04) posting. At ~25k miles my car started to vibrate. I brought it to Meineke and they said the rotors were warped and should be fixed under warranty. Chrysler 1400 Motors of Nashua, NH would not replace the rotors under warranty and said it was at my cost. They did replace the leaking rear joints & right front shock leak. Theres no end in sight for Grand Cherokee rotor problem until enough people complain to make a new design manditory by Chrysler.

Not safe to drive! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Melissa - April 25 - 7:54 amWhere to start. When the car arrived there were some interior pieces partially off and in the front passenger side a bunch of wires were hanging down by the floor. Red flag? Hmm. Here we go, Issues I have had: -Control screen goes black randomly and radio shuts off. As well as everything else I access via this screen. -Randomly says key fab has left the vehicle and dings when it hasnt. -AC/Heat are extremes. If you decide to adjust temp, takes like 15 minutes for it to actually change. -Gear shifter, yikes! Hard to know what you actually shifted into. You think you pushed it all the way forward for Park but no, half the time, it is in reverse. -----SCARIEST of all is the transmission! It hesitates whenever you need sudden acceleration like trying to make a left turn! Almost got into a few accidents because of this potentially deadly flaw. I have to drive knowing that my transmission will seize and not to try and to do any rapid or quick accelerations. Had it looked at many times and they tell me nothing is wrong. We updated software, have a great day. I leased this poor excuse for a vehicle and I wish I could get rid of it today. Will never buy another Jeep Vehicle again.

Feeling its Age - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Amanda - April 23 - 3:13 amI bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee about a year and a half ago and it has been nothing but problems. About every two to three months, something will go wrong with it. (Something different every time.) I almost have a new car by now.

2006 Overland - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jim - April 17 - 4:13 pmI use this Jeep for weekend driving from CT to NH and use it off road quite a bit. Its is a joy to drive on the highway. Its fast for an SUV but a tad torquey around town (lots of head snapping) with the family and dog in the car. Its quite capable off road but doesnt seem as tough as the 2001 Jeep I had or my Tahoe Z71 with a heavy duty suspension. It also gets worse gas mileage than my Tahoe. If you have to choose between a larger SUV and this one I would chose the Tahoe over the Overland.

5.9 Jeep Rocks - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Coop - April 17 - 1:26 pmI bought this off a friend who got it new. It has 123,000 miles with no problems. It has a K&N Filter and gets approimately 17-18 on the highway and passing is NO problem as this SUV will fly. Had to put seals in transfer case where drive shaft goes in; dried up. Its only on its 3rd set of tires and they are new. Goes great in any condition. IF only it did not have the road noise/whine on the highway it would be perfect. Do have a strange electrical problem, may be ignition switch but still very reliable.

Cant get one like this one anymore! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ole rooster - April 17 - 7:36 amSo sad that Chrysler did away with the 4.0 liter engine. Mine is bullet proof. Have about 115,000K on mine and it still is running perfect. 2nd Cherokee I have owned and I love mine. Fit and finish is good, but the styling is what I like best, it just looks good. A/C still blows very cold and the stereo is wonderful. Power leather seats are very comfortable on 500 mile trips. Wish the fuel economy was a little better. Over all a good SUV at a great price.

Very Very Disappointed! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Disappointed - April 17 - 1:30 amFor the money I spent I expected better quality. Had the jeep 3 yrs and after 8 months I frequently took it in for work. Tranny, suspension, even the steering rack went at 40k. The interior plastic is extremely cheap feeling which I knew from the start but as time went on it scratched at the lightest touch. The gas mileage also sucks. If you plan on having kids forget it. This is a very large car yet a child seat can not safely seat in the back. We had to keep the kids in my wifes lil 4 door until they were out of car seats. Pathetic. Lastly do not buy if you do any offroading. It did horribly and things broke easily. Im done with this car and am doing my best to rid it.
