Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Great car. Love everything about it except the fuel mileage. Havent been able to take any long trips as yet due to illness in the family. I am anxious to see if the valve cutout system actually makes a difference on steady speeds over a long period of time. Handles like a dream, low center of gravity makes it handle on curves wonderfully. Acceleration is superb.

  • I should have thought twice - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Since the car is brand new of course there arent any major problems yet, but I can tell there will be a lot. It seems like the components are cheaply made. For example: 1) Exterior rubber trim is all falling off 2) Car is loud for a brand new truck 3) AC is horrible, full blast and not cold 4) have to punch the steering wheel hard for the horn to work 5) Acceleration is horrible: it lags on and off and decides to accelerate when it feels like it. Sometimes there is no response when the gas pedal is pushed down. Overall the car just seems like its doomed. Luckily I leased it for 3 years and then Im out. Ive had used cars run better. Im going back to Japanese models, theyre better.

  • Love our Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We have a cabin in the Sierras and the road to our place is dirt. When it rains its very muddy and we needed a dependable 4 wheel drive to get there. We found it with the new 2005 Grand Jeep Cherokee. Just love to drive it! Its easy to drive and a dream to parallel park.

When placing my Jeep gear it will jerk real hard, then when pushing on the gas the Jeep will hesitate and lose all power, I too drive to work in heavy traffic I am scared to death that I will be in a fatal accident, last year I took this Jeep to the dealership and explained what the Jeep was doing he explained to me it was bad gas, it now does this a lot, I once again took it into the dealership he explained to me this time that it was the transmission module which of course is not covered in Chrysler wonderful life-time powertrain warranty how Nice this is going to cost me a pretty Penny, so I have been reading on all these complaints about the same problem come on Chrysler recall

ALREADY HAD A 99 GC BASE LAREDO ON A 3 YR LEASE---REAL FUN TO DRIVE--TOOK A LITTLE CHANGE W/ THE CHRSYLER MINI V-- BUT COULDNT WAIT TO GET BACK INTO AN SUV. THE 04 MODELS WERE BEING DISCOUNTED--EVEN THOUGH STILL HAD 1 MORE YEAR LEFT--JEEP DEALER BOUGHT OUT THE MV LEASE, AND THE GC MIDNIGHT BLUE EDITION JUST WON ME OVER--AGAIN-- THOUGHT ABOUT OTHER SUVS--BUT THIS IS ONE SHARP VEHICLE--MUCH NICER EXTERIOR WITH THE COLOR BUMPER MATCH THAN THE BASE LAREDO-SIMILAR TO THE LIMITED STYLE

  • MY 3RD JEEP - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my third Jeep starting with a 2000 Laredo - 2002 Grand Cherokee and now a 2005 Grand Cherokee loaded including the 5.7 Hemi. So far this one has been excellent except in one small area which I am getting used to. When applying the brakes lightly they will on their own go down about 1 inch and then take better hold. I drove another 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it also did this. No explanation from Jeep. I am getting used to it and do not consider it a problem, only something different. The ride is greatly improved over the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I had.

  • Hate this Jeep - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 2007 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4,3. 7 liter v-6. This is not the first Jeep Ive owned but will probably be the last. It has been to the dealer 3 times in the last 6 months for the same problem. Driving down the road no matter what speed it does not stall but the computer drops it down to 20 mph and the engine will shutter. Sometimes it will correct itself and sometimes if you turn the car off and restart it it clears what ever the problem is. Dealer says they cant reproduce the problem. All I know is that this thing is dangerous. My wife was driving in heavy traffic and it cut out on her in 65 mph traffic and she almost got rear ended. Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Looks great, Build quality is a true Chrysler. - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought my Jeep a year ago and have waited until now to write this review because I wanted to give it a thorough testing. I love the looks both inside and out. I like the features and got a good deal. The build quality just sucks. Im normally a Toyota person but bought this after being disappointed with the ride of the new 4Runner. I was hesitant about buying a Chrysler due to their poor reputation for quality and it turns out I shouldve listened to myself.

  • Last Jeep for me - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have always loved Jeeps. I had five new ones before I purchased a new 2001 fully loaded. I have had four brake jobs, replaced the steering wheel, the drive shafts, the window regulator, the water pump, the speakers, several sensors, major transmission work, the battery, electronic ignition problems. It was bad enough having to do these things to a $32,000 car, but the treatment from Chrysler and the costs have soured me on any more of their products. Since I have always taken excellent care of my autos, this car still looks like it did the day it left the showroom 4 years ago. Brand new condition. It is parked in my garage, and I drive my Infiniti. Too bad because I used to like Jeep.

  • 7+ years & still going strong - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

We bought the 01 JGC new and now with 86k miles let our college age son buy into it. Loaded Laredo w/leather, 4l i6 with Selectrac. Its been very reliable: of course we replaced the brake pads/rotors @ 35k and 85k mi (2nd time was planned). Also did seat heaters 3 times but under ext warranty. (liked it enough we just bought a new 07 similarly equipped but 4.7v8 for towing). I follow sched a maintenance & have not had problems, our mechanic says the i6 Selectrac is best SUV ever. I would have rated this one higher except its now compared to the new 07, not really fair.
