Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Prior to this SUV, I had a Chrysler Sebring LXI. I really needed an SUV for my new baby (born in May). Ive been pretty satisfied with it until my air bag light started going on. I was about 100 miles before my 6000 mile service and today took it to the dealer at 6100 miles. They said no code was recorded and that the system would be reset. Guess what, not even 1/2 mile down the road and the light comes back on. Went back to the dealer (with my 5 month old baby) and they tell me no code again. Ive been researching all night and found that this has been happening since 1998. Cant Jeep fix this? Im worried about the future. I need reliability! Saw that 02 models are having window problems. Yikes!

The Jeep is very fun to drive and has a great deal of sex appeal considering it is a SUV. My Jeep has the Quadtrac fulltime 4wd system and I would recommend getting this. It is clearly one of the best features of the Jeep. Another personal best feature, is the fact that this jeep has serious whip. From 0-30mph, the car is very fast. My stories about the brakes are not nearly as bad as everyones else...although I agree the car definitely needs a new braking system, as long as you go somewhat easy on the brakes it wont be that bad. Overall fun and PRACTICAL car.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is the one SUV that all the competitors fear. It has tremendous off road capability. I have taken it on beach sand with heavy ruts and loose drifting sand. No problem at all. It can handle anything. Try that with the fake SUVs put out by the competitors. Who knows more about four wheel drive than Jeep? My wife drives this one, and she absolutely loves it. (She owns Ford stock, but we bought this new. We also have a Liberty).

Car turned out to be a lemon. Lousy reliability. Has been in repair for half a dozen items. Altough it is comfotable to ride, i woul NOT recommend it to anyone. Go Japanese.

Picked up the new 2015 Overland about a month ago. Without a doubt, this is a great SUV. Ive read all of the reviews and I honestly dont understand all of the negativity. This Jeep runs smooth and strong, mileage is very acceptable, and the comfort is outstanding. Blind spot monitoring, adaptable cruise control, user friendly interface, and many more features make this SUV stand out amongst its rivals. I have had no issues with transmission, electrical,or any of the other great features. Maybe Im just lucky, but I absolutely love this ride. So far, so good.

  • Made for 2 Adults and 3 kids - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Pros: Power, ride quality , driver position, handling and all the cool high tech features (cameras (yes there are 2!), auto climate, lights etc.) Cons: Rear seats seem to have been made only for kids...or really tiny adults. I am less than average build (58") and I would not want to sit in the rear seat for even a short duration. Stereo sound is not center balanced...wonder if a dealer could make that adjustment.

Power is adequate for city driving, however if you want to plan any hihgway driving, plan ahead if you want to merge or to pass as it takes a while. One problem so far, a rattle in the rear passenger side area. Turned out to be loose side airbag bracket and was fixed promptly by the dealer. The other day I was trying to back into my garage. Driveway was snow and ice covered and on small incline. What happened next the right rear wheel started spinning and I had to get some momentum to get the rear inside. Once the rear got inside and was on dry concrete, the front wheel started spinning and again would not move. Again had to get momentum to get in. Not the best AWD me thinks.

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Second time around! - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My wife had an accident with a Ford F150 that ran a red light while driving our 2000 Grand Cherokee. She hit the truck broadside and rolled it over. Our Jeep took the hit up front. Everyone in our car had only minor bumps. Jeep was totaled but the passenger compartment was perfect. My wife would now not have anything else but a new one. They would have been killed in a car. The new 2004 is even nicer than the first. Very comfortable to drive and plenty of power with the 4.7 V8. It handles well and has a beautiful paint finish in Inferno red pearl coat.

  • Not Bad At All! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

WE bought it just to tow our camper! We added a tow bar to tow our camper and have made seven trips so far. Even with the 6cyl 3.7, it pulls and rides like a charm! Just recently we have had to have the drivers door seal replaced due to it protruding out a little far when you enter the drivers seat. The back seat leg room is tight for an adult, but is good for kids.
