Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

This is my 3rd JGC, having traded in a 2005 JGC Laredo. Getting into an 08 JGC Overland with the 5.8L Hemi was awesome. The power and acceleration is amazing for an SUV. Gas Mileage so far is about 15 MPG in the city, not too bad for a big engine. Ext. looks are good, and the interior is sharp and refined. Lots of extras with the Nav, Sat. radio, Bluetooth, Back-up camera, etc. I chose this JGC over the Acura MDX because of what you get for the price. Dealer incentives made the JGC more affordable than the MDX. Plus I got the same or more bells and whistles and a vehicle that will leave the MDX,CX9, and RX in my dust. Great Truck!!

Ive Owned and driven many types of SUVs, from the Ford Expedition, and Explorer, Suburban, Dodge Durango, which Ive all owned. To the Hummer, Cayanne, Range Rover, which my friends own. Im very impressed, with Jeep Grand Cherokee, it has a very sturdy, yet comfortable, luxurious drive. The layout of the controls, and room and the car are great. If you are thinking of mid size suv to get. I highly suggest this one. One thing that might help you over the top is the fact that this is the Suv choice of many millionaires.

So far have really enjoyed owning this vehicle. Previously owned a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited with V8, sold it with 189,000 miles on it. I am confident that this Jeep will satisfy as well. MPG so far is ranging 17-19 around town. Have yet to make a HWY trip to determine what that MPG will be.

This vehicle has been one of the better vehicles I have owned. I do most of the PM on the vehicle, so I know its done right. The main problem Ive found with the vehicle is the exterior paint job from the factory, which easily chips and requires touch-up on a regular basis. Ive never owned a vehicle longer than this Jeep, so I guess it says something for my satisfaction with the product.

we have the JGC with the V8 and selec- trc II full-time 4wd. The vehicle is fantastic in sand and snow. The V8 has tons of power and averages 16.5 mpg overall. Out local dealer upgraded replaced my front calipers under the recall.

  • My Jeep is Noahs Ark - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Limited is the best car I ever bought! It rides as well as our Volvo T6 S80, and drives beautifully, too. Going through snow it is like a big safe sled. Not one skid, slide, or hesitation going over the mountain pass in several inches of snow. In my mind this Jeep is the best all around SUV for the money. A huge improvement over my previous Jeep.

Used to performance sedans. The 4x4 is a seductive temptress. Relaxed, calm as I drive it. Interior comfort is good, finish is good. The vehicle is well built, and what I want.

  • Decent for the money. - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Reliability has been an issue. Transmission failed at 43K ($2200). Fuel pump failed ($600). Many leaks (trans., axles, oil, etc.). Exhaust header broke ($400). Many check engine lights for sensors (four for pressure sensor and one for oxygen sensor). At 165K miles, it is still driving strong and looks good. I am shooting for 250K miles. If you can stomach repairs, it is a decent vehicle for the money. Build quality is good, and styling is the best. At 165K, it still looks and runs as well as it did when I got it at 34K for $19.5K. If it runs to 250K without any further large component failures, I will buy another one.

  • Excellent Jeep! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive now got over 21k miles on my Overland since I bought it new. In that time its been trouble free except for the hvac motor. It stopped working so the dealer replaced a resistor and since then its been fine. I LOVE the interior and the excellent HO motor. I owned two 5.9 Grands before this one and I can say that the acceleration between the two is identical. The 4.7 gets much better gas mileage though and also has the option of running on regular gas without the need for a computer flash. After over a year of driving and 21k miles I fully recommend the Overland!

  • Never Again Will We Make This Mistake! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Run for you life! This is the worst SUV on the market! Problems from literaly day one. Black smoke poured out the back after owning for one day. Company would not diagnose correctly until warenty had expired! Thank you Chrysler! The brakes ate up our entire savings, the transmission was my right kidney, and not to mention the new engine we had to put in it. The front door does not lock, the windows leak, the hood does not stay up by its self. Please what ever you do DO NOT buy a 1999 Jeep! It is by far the worst decision my husband and I have ever made! We tell everyone we know how much we have "loved" our Jeep. If you own a Jeep you understand the nightmare.
