Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

**My Jeep** - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Steve - October 13 - 1:23 pmIts a great SUV! Great in the snow. I bought the V-8 4.7 liter. It averages 15 mpg. I test drove the V- 6 4.0 liter. I needed the V-8 for my needs. I really didnt want to buy the 2005 with the new body and new motor design, so I got a left over.

Wife displeased - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By RFBookman - October 13 - 11:53 amBought new in 1996, was initially pleased. Had to have radio replaced under warranty but was fairly problem free until the rear end needed replacing. Mechanic said that gearing was misaligned from the factory and it was only a matter of time until it went out. Had other small intermittent problems. Then the computer unit went out. It took Jeep dealer about 3 months to find the problem. We would take it in and they would give it back saying they could not find any problem. It would have same problem and we would take it in only to start the cycle again. Wife who drives vehicle says we will never buy another Jeep. Plan on replacing it soon with import.

My LAST car purchase - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Rodney777 - October 13 - 2:00 amThis car is INCREDIBLE! My biggest motto in life is "You get what you pay for," and that remains true with the Grand Cherokee. Its AWESOME in the snow and the ride is incredibly comfortable. I have never felt this confident on the road. The seats hug you from the very start and as soon as you get on the road you can tell that this is no regular car. Plus the 0% interest deals? What more do you need. Just drive the Grand and see for yourself. Ive rode in a pathfinder and 4runner and those cars are a waste of money. Another guy put it right, Jeep could easily raise the tag by another $10,000 and it would still feel worth it.

BUY ONE! - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jeepster - October 12 - 9:46 amI bought this vehicle September of 1995, and since then it has been a pleasure to drive. It has great handling, and NO blind spots! It also is extremely powerful with the V8 engine. The heated seats are great with my back, and the sunroof is just a pleasure. The trip computer is very informative, and has kept my Jeep moving. After 11 years of ownership, I have put 111,000 miles on this Jeep, and havent had a single problem; it has not seen the inside of the Jeep dealership since the day i bought it (other than routine maintenance). I bought a Mercedes ML 2 years ago, but kept the Jeep, I ended up trading the ML back because it was no comparison, and now I drive the Jeep! Amazing vehicle!

Best car i ever owned! - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Peter - October 11 - 11:41 amOwned since mid 2013. Almost 90,000 miles . Had zero problems. doing all maintnance by myself. Very dependable vehicle. For future use - parts are cheap and avalible everywhere. If transmission goes bad they run around 400 slightly used. I drive a lot so I get usually from my cars around 250-350 k miles and i am sure i will get this out of this 2014 grand cherokee.

Laredo-My Reliable Friend - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By VJohns - October 9 - 5:03 amI was told that the first year of owning a Jeep can be a real pain in the "you know what," and I believe it! Brakes, alignment, a new computer and an annoying noise associate with the pinion angle when traveling at 60mph all plagued the vehicle (and me) during the first year. After that, basic maintenance and that is all. A new battery was needed at year 6; in the last year the power door locks have given up working and the transmission is beginning to slip. I think it was developing the transmission problem years ago, but while under warranty I was told that it was "normal play" - even though it made a wonderful "kerchunk" sound when put in reverse :^> Headlights getting "milky"/dim.

I have Loved my 95 ZJ since the test drv - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By cgk13 - October 8 - 11:06 amI bought my 95 zj in 2007 and I have never regretted it. I have had to replace the starter, water pump and alternator as well as front brakes and regular tune ups but that is to be expected. The inline six is amazing!! She is about to hit 200k and is still going strong. I live in Iowa so when winter comes other drivers cringe but I say bring it on. No matter what nature or myself throw at my jeep she takes it without missing a beat and keeps going. Including a deer and my tire coming off on the highway. I have never owned a better vehicle. I want to drive my jeep until the wheels fall off and then I will put them back on and keep going! I love my Jeep!

My second JCG - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By second Jeep - October 8 - 10:00 amThis is the second JCG I have owned. I have had it from 30 k to 48 k in Chicago. No problems so far. Ideal commuter, hauler, bad weather transportation, and taxi cab drag racer. Cleans up well enough for a night on the town. A good friend bought the Laredo version (2001), and it was clearly a Lemon. He changed to the limited version with the K package (like mine), and now is very happy.
