The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

STAY AWAY FROM JEEPS! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jimmy - October 25 - 10:00 amOh, where to start! Ive had this POS for 4 months and have had it to the dealership 6 times! Brake rotors warp, Steering column clicks, sunroof when opened makes a rattling sound, the Jeep pulls to the right, big time! The dealer tells me this is normal and that its the "crown on the road", WHATEVER! This vehical is the WORST vehical Ive ever owned. Not only will I never buy a Jeep, Ill never buy a Chrysler after being dicked around by the dealership so much, they were very painful to deal with!

Rock solid - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kaotik_inc - October 24 - 11:40 pmIve recently purchased a v8 grand Cherokee limited that was brought to Canada over a year ago from California... The truck sat for over a year without any starting.... Boosted it, & it ran & drove on a dead battery & year old gas! Truck has been a daily driver since then, & goes trail-ridin every 2 or 3 days... Never been stuck... Never broke. Thats a tough truck, in my book! Im convinced... Its definitely a Jeep thing... Im hooked on these things now.

Original Owners Issues - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By wllmmddltn - October 22 - 4:03 pmOK, the Jeep looks fantastic, drives solid, stable and lots of power, theres plenty of options, just a sound design, could get better mileage. But now that Ive had it 7 years and 95,000 miles things are breaking. Weve had the window fall off the mechanism, and the heavy shudder in the breaks but electrically, no issues and had a tow hitch added. But the AC system melted and was $1500 to repair. Now the steering box is out and another $1200. So yeah, Id call this a higher than average vehicle to maintain cost wise.

great car! - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By cheryl graham - October 21 - 10:00 ami have enjoyed the car immensely! great for hauling kids & stuff. no major problems. my only issue has been service related. some sort of dealership rearrangement took place and all jeeps were moved from performance to dwanye lane. i have not been particularly impressed with either dwayne lane or town & country service centers. since performance still has jeep proficient service people - i take all non warranty issues to them. all of their service people have been incredibly gracious. their hours are much better, they provide pickup & dropoff driver service & facilitate rentals cars if needed. the only thing that they no longer do is car washing!

Extremely pleased - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Pat - October 19 - 7:40 pmWhat a great SUV. Drives & handles excellent. Its smooth, quiet, safe & responsive. Many great options. My last 4X4 was a loaded Ford Expedition but rode & handled like a truck. I had a Jeep salesman take me for a demo ride in a Grand last winter during a bad snowstorm to highlight how the Mercedes platform handles/controls in icy treacherous conditions. He drove it hard & the control & performance was very impressive. For 4 months I shopped other SUVs but went back for the Jeep! I drive the Colorado mountains 12 months a year so winter safety is important but also wanted to move into a luxury ride. It handles our 10K foot passes great. So far 18/23MPG. My Ford got 11/15 MPG. The increase in MPG alone is worth every $.

No problems - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By sdc - October 18 - 12:30 pmI purchased this vehicle used with the 4.7L V8 and 24K miles and have had no problems. It has power to pass traffic with no problems. We just had it on a trip and it performed wonderfully in foul weather. This is a true Jeep.

Love It! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By kcandspaz - October 16 - 3:03 pmI bought this vehicle a couple of weeks ago. Already I love it! I purchased the 5.7 liter V8 flex fuel engine. Gas mileage is as expected (about 17 miles/gal), but the power and comfort cant be beat.

Its A Jeep Thing... - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Willie - October 14 - 10:43 pmI LOVE THIS JEEP! I have been looking for a great truck most of the summer. When I saw what great deals they had on Grand Cherokees I was sold. I have the options I want. I have the color I want, Light Khaki. It has pretty good fuel economy (mid 15 mpg) in mostly city driving. Its the perfect size. Its not as big as a Dodge Durango or as bad on gas. I love the look of the interior and the contrasting colors. I love the standard safety features like Traction Control, with the 4x4 system, ABS and other creature comforts like average miles per gallon, miles till empty, miles till service and compass/temperature. I love the fabric of this cloth better then the normal cloth.

By Nish - October 14 - 3:00 pmThis is a great SUV, from towing to daily commutes. Easy to drive, easy to park. Transmission is great as it keeps in lower gears for more spirited driving. Downside is that I have to have the front brake rotors turned annually as they warp and cause brake pulsation.
