Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

mikeark - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mikeark - November 18 - 9:33 amPurchased new in 1999, now have 90000 miles. Still love the looks and power of the 4.7 liter 8 w/ quadtrac. Some problems with brake rotors in front ... nothing serious. Mileage not real good, 15/19, but this is a heavy 4wd vehicle. The heater in the drivers seat has not worked in years and the hood will not stay up. I am concerned about the future after reading these reviews ... am looking at a Mazda3 5 door.

Experience after 1 year - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By pjweb - November 16 - 8:23 amThe Jeep has been nearly perfect and I put it through a lot of beating. It has towed my 19 boat 15 times this year. Most trips greater than 50 miles. I have 23K on the odometer. Nothing has failed and nothing really needs replacing. I do get the oil changed every 3K and have done all of the scheduled service.

expected more - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By not pleased - November 16 - 5:00 amWhen we first purchased I loved it. Now that my husband has bought a new larger truck, we have naoticed how loud the Jeep is. Also, the tires are poor quality and we have had our car in the shop twice in 1 month!!! First, we had a transmission leak and now the solanoaid in the transmission went out and the air conditioner went out at the same time. Mind you we only have 12,800 miles on the vehicle. If we had to do over again we would but looks like we are stuck with this vehicle for a few more years due to their resale value unless we get lucky and the vehicle is a lemon!!!

Very good vehicle - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By fastdude - November 15 - 9:44 amOverall Im very happy with the car itself. However I wish I bought the V8 instead of the V6. The engine feels underpowered since the engine has to work very hard to get the 2200 kg weight moving in city driving. Cruising on the highway the engine works better, so long you dont climb any hills. The 5 speed auto trans mission is geared to high. Need at least 6 gears to make driving more fun. Gas consumption was good at first but now after 12000 miles/19000 km my consumption is 20 City and 23highway.

Its been good to me - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sean - November 14 - 5:43 amIn the two years Ive owned it, Ive driven only 10,000 miles. I love the look and feel of this car, and I get positive comments too. The acceleration is good for an SUV. Youre not driving a BMW coupe. I have the V8. The ride is incredible when compared even to the Lexus RX. Not bumpy or jerky at all. The seats are very comfortable, even on 7 hour trip, and the high seats are great for driving. The only problems Ive had are the tire pressure lights coming on a couple times and the air conditioning, when all the way up, making a whistling sound over 55 mph. Otherwise, this car has been a gem. I only wish I could get more than 16mpg

Not like the 2011 - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mike - November 13 - 3:59 pmIts made by Fiat. 8 speed transmission a joke. Hemi engine the only saving factor. Electronics very poor compared to 2011 vehicle. Unable to fix problems with electronics . Customer service from Jeep customer service a joke . I was told that the problem was not fixable and was paid off with 1 car payment.

Great SUV - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By lhazie - November 10 - 2:56 amI absolutely love this vehicle. Very reliable SUV, although the rear axle was replaced after 2 years but was covered by warranty. It never left me stranded even in the deepest snow of Buffalo. The only complaint is that it is a little "wobbly" for some passengers. Overall it was worth every penny. And what a great re-sale value, if I can ever bear to part with it. (Ive read a lot about the rotors, I have 43,000 miles on same rotors; no problem).

Lucky So Far - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Lucky Mac - November 10 - 2:36 amThis is my first Jeep ever. So far all is good, after reading all the reviews on the V6 engines looks like I am one of the lucky ones that does not have too much problem. I guess because my break in period was different. I drove this jeep like a sports car rigth away. I love the AWD capabilities of this jeep. The auto trani is slow when you mash the gas to the floor but thanks to manumatic shift, although there is about a second delay in shifting with a good timing it works just fine. Stability is very good, high speed lane switch is very stable it hugs curves like its on rail. The problem I had with the trani leaks recall was fixed right away by the dealer. I will upgrade to the SRT8 soon.

This is Cherokee #6 - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Steve Turso - November 8 - 1:45 amThis might be the best one yet. Very comfortable, rides better with the 18" wheels I think compared to the 20s, the gas mileage is no shock, its a hemi so it is what it is but on the highway I can get 22. Its still new only a few weeks but absolutely no issues at this point!

repairs too much - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Cecil - November 4 - 5:13 amBought one year ago with 68,000 miles. I have put 20,000 miles on it in 12 months. I have had to replace fuel pump for around $600, light sensor for $250, heater blower and heater switch $700. Very concerned about ongoing repairs; these Jeeps seem to be very costly to repair. It also seems to leak a lot of fluids, I have taken it in several times to try and get leaks to stop. Do not like that the tire is inside and takes up space. I would not buy another one.
