Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Good performance and looks. Cheap used. - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By gblanch - January 21 - 10:00 amI bought this 8 cyl. Jeep at three years old, 29k miles, for just over half its original price (paid $18k), after deciding that $40k was too much for new. Original buyers depreciaion loss was my gain. I couldnt be more pleased, even if Id bought it new. My wife loves the looks and power around town with our children. It handles great in snow and ice, is comfortable on long drives, and has performed admirably in light off-road use (fishing, hunting, camping). We had to replace a transmission sensor to fix hard shifting ($150), as well as replace the stereo (covered under the extended warranty). Starting to get a little brake pulsing at 50k miles.

worst vehicle I ever bought - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By tkesteloot - January 20 - 10:14 pmThe ride was super, the looks super, power was ok, my problem with the V-6 was that standing still or driving there was a constant vibration in both the steering wheel and the floor. Jeep could not fix the problem and it became so iritating that with less than 1000 miles on it, I ended up trading it for a Dodge at a huge loss of money. Would not recoment the V-6 to anyone. Drove two other Jeeps with the V-6 and they also vibrated, the floor and the steering wheel and one of the two the shift lever was also vibrating.

Could be better - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By gypsy77 - January 20 - 11:16 amI bought my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD in 2007, used with 70k miles on it. I thought I got a deal of a lifetime on the price. Ive only had this vehicle for about 8 months. So far, things that have been wrong with it include: Car lost power and wouldnt start back up for about and hour, then it would die again (had to get that fixed $300), brakes are making a grinding noise even though I am told the brake pads are fine, in reverse it makes a weird clunking and vibrating sound, the mechanics say nothing is wrong. The engine light has been on for a month. Feels squirrely on the highway. I cant afford to keep getting things fixed! I also own a 2000 Honda Civic, never have any problems!

No complaints - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Craig - January 20 - 5:26 amI have the Limited with the 5.7L Hemi, and I was surprised by the gas mileage for a vehicle that size with an engine that size. I usually get about 17-18 mpg. With my previous vehicle being a 300 hp Mustang GT, I wasnt expecting to get that type of speed from an SUV but the Hemi comes close. It has a lot of features that I would expect from a vehicle that cost $20k more such as automatic climate control, auto wipers, and auto high beams.

Not make as good as the older jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By walker - January 18 - 6:58 pmThis jeep is poorly made, So many problems since I brought this new. jeep . In the past I owned 2 jeeps...a 1997 lasted 259. 000 miles and 1999 both were well made and basic trouble free. Not this junk...no more jeeps after this

Second Grand Cherokee - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Lowellp - January 18 - 10:00 amThis is our second Grand cherokee, the first was the 4.0 ltr. and I must say the limited 4.7 V8 is worlds apart. It is getting better fuel economy and works less hard moving this heavy vehicle. We test drove many other SUVs but came back for another one. New competitors vehicles may look sporty or trendy but living with and sitting inside, this is the vehicle for us.

The worst vehicle ever made - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By SO UPSET - January 17 - 5:43 amIt started w/the Rotors from the day I drove it off the lot.Ive blocked it out of mind just how money I spent & the RUN AROUND from the dealership & the corporate. I fixed the rotors (later recalled). When I called corporate they told me it was too late, Id fixed them. What was I supposed to do, be killed or kill someone else b/c of defective brakes and rotors. Next, the windows;first passenger side - 400.00+ to fix, then the drivers side & one in the back. The blinkers work sometimes & others they dont. The locks only work with the Key remote. Im too poor to anything about it. Ive started (too late) to take tag numbers of other similar jeeps. I have sweat dreams of a Class Action.
