Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Well, this car was the worst one we ever bought. The brake rotors warped within 8 months of driving it out of the lot, the air conditioning is hot in the summer, but the heating is marginally good in winter. The fan relay went at 38k miles. The fog light on-indicator burned out at 39k miles and one of the power outlets doesnt work. At 33k miles the seatbelt failed to retract. The car floats all over the road. The tilting steering wheel jumps out of its last position when you go over a bump. Do not, whatever you do, by a used Jeep Grand Cherokee. I wouldnt say its trail rated---I would say its "fail" rated.

  • Jeep is best SUV I ever had - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had acura, lexus, land rover and porsche suvs. The jeep was the best by far...love that ride, handling, minimal maintenance issues.

  • Jeep Junk - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Its hard to know where to start, ok, the good, great looks. there done. The bad, everything, always in the shop, from drive line to electrical, heating and a/c to braking to cooling to, well everything. Paint peeling to add to it. worst vehicle i have ever owned, do not purchase this Jeep and year or any other, save yourself the pain and hassle, oh and money. Dealership can never fix it, wish someone would steal it so I would never see it in the drive way again.

  • Watch out for bad O2 sensors - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Ive had to replace both O2 sensors in a span of less than 6 months. Jeeps have two of them. It will cost you over $200 bucks to change each O2 sensor unless you know how to change it yourself. Steering is a problem. When making tight turns the front wheels will shake and pull. Other than that, the Jeeps are a decent vehicle.

  • Jeep = Worst Junk Car - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

It is such a junk car!!! Since I bought it, I have kept getting back to dealer for repairing, radio noise, gas tank leak, window noise, power window not working, power seat not moving, door can not be unlocked, engine check light on, so on........If any one wants a reliable car, never look at the Jeep!!!! Take the lesson from me! But you like the fancy functions and dont care to visit Jeep car dealer for fixing "small problems" once a month, go ahead for it.

We have been very pleased with our Jeep. There has been only 1 problem. The vehicle would jump when accelerating up a small hill while in CC.We wish there was better gas mileage.I am concerned with the Seat Belt Buckles opening in a crash or roll- over. I have written Chrysler and the dealer. We do not back out of the drive-way without buckling up. Because of rear wheel drive and the tendency for SUVs to roll, I dont feel as safe as I did in a our min-van. We are happy with the 7 yr. 100,000 mile warranty. P.S. I always carry a drink cup filled with ice and it is exactly across from the buckle so you can see why I am concerned.

  • Best Buy - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

A must have vehicle! A perfect combination for someone that still enjoys the finer things in life while having a need for a SUV due to two small kids. Quick, agile and flat out strong! I never imagined a vehicle that would ease the pain of parting with our Land Rover Defender 90. Its an awesome felling knowing that you have an elite vehicle that only a few are privileged to own.

  • Awesome - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Except for having a rear view mirror in my view, i dont have any complaints. Ive driven mine into a ditch on the interstate, off-road, very off-road, on gravel, and its a great ride and Ive never broken anything on it. Built like a tank. GET ONE!

  • Pretty good so far - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is my first Jeep. It is fun to drive - plenty of power. Love the warm seats. We took it to the beach in Pismo and it performed great in the sand. The backup alert/warning system is handy except when I have the swing out bike rack on the back which causes the warning sound as soon as you go in reverse. The drivers seat automatically moves forward and backwards when you turn the car on and off. The passenger area shrinks when the seat moves backward. One time, a passenger in the back got her foot stuck when the seat moved backwards. My one peeve is the rear-view mirror is too low such that it blocks out much of the right side of the windshield.

I have very little in the way of repairs. Ive had a few of the plastic pieces fall off over the years. Absolutly nothing major.
