Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

  • Going for 300K miles! - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought a Limited V8 new and have racked up over 245K miles on it trouble free (besides regular maintaince) I have only replaced the radiator, new hoses and belts and numerous sets of tires. I use this truck for business sales and its the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned! Just bought a new Grand Cherokee and gave this one to my daughter for college!

  • Best GC yet - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive owned quite a few Grand Cherokees.I have a video production company and drive the heck out of them mostly loaded with gear.Ive had the 11 for just over a year and have put 66K miles on it. To date the only REAL issue is the clunk in the rear (that I cant find the source of) and the poor quality seat. Regarding the seat, Im 510" 175 lbs and I have a couple of springs or something coming through the bottom cushion, along with the material looking worn already. My seat in my 09 with 100K still looks new. Other than that, super comfortable, great gas mileage (V6), decent power, nice features blah blah blah. Overall I love it. Once back to the dealer for tranny reprogram.

  • Love it! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the first new vehicle Ive ever bought, and Im loving it! The seats are very comfy--I like the heated seats in the winter, the ride is smooth, itll drive anywhere, and it looks cooool. The 4.7L V8 has power to spare--Im glad I didnt spend the extra money for the Hemi. I can carry a lot of cargo inside, plus with the roof basket and bike racks I can carry almost anything for a weekend in the woods. This Jeep also handles like a dream. I never imagined an SUV could take corners like this! The ride is smooth in spite of the on/off road tires, even at highway speeds. Traction control, ABS, Quadra Trac II, airbags everywhere.

  • My 2004 2 wheel drive - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my Grand Cherokee Laredo from a local used car place with 145,681 miles on it. The vehicle now has 210,450 miles on it. I still average near 21 mpgs on the highway with it. The inline 6 is a very durable motor, the only items Ive replaced on it was at 175,265 a water pump, tires normal wear, brakes, and all push rods for lift gate, hood, and back glass. The cooling fan went out a few miles back going to replace it soon. Great vehicle. I get 17.5 mpgs in the city.

  • Window regulators - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I had to replace the window regulators in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cher. Laredo once, but guess what,Im going to have to re-place 4 of them again. Ill never buy another Jeep Cherokee and will never recommend them to anyone else. These things cost a lot of money, which I cannot afford.

  • Worst car I ever bought - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This car has been in the shop for shutting off while driving multiple times, rubbing noises when braking, windows not working properly, mirror has to be replaced, car still stutters periodically, manual locks had to be fixed. Until reprogrammed, car would stall when you hit a bump. Would NEVER buy another jeep. Horrible investment. Check resale value before purchasing.

We found this Jeep a great improvement over the 98 we had,the 4.7L h.o. kicks assp and I get 24.8 mpg running prem gas.The ride and handling are great and its quiet great fit and finish with the inferno red paint job. No problems to date

  • Awesome redesign - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Have driven about 5,000 miles with no complaint. The vehicle is everything I had hoped. Mileage is almost exactly as promised averaging 20 to 22 for our type of mostly rural driving, the V6 is very smooth and quiet and gets the job done just fine (we dont do any towing). MPG readout is a bit optimistic. Unlike our old CR-V the JGC is quiet enough for front and back seat occupants to carry on a conversation. I like the firmness of the seats though I can understand why some may feel they are too firm. Overall quality is superb with little road noise and no squeaks or rattles.

  • Thinking Mans MB - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Have roughly 1,500 miles on a Laredo with the 26X package, Trailer Tow Group, Panoramic sunroof, and Off Road Adventure 1 package. Fit and finish seems about as good as previous MBs and BMWs. The driving experience is great with quiet ride and responsive handling for an SUV. Interior materials are (finally) what they should be. Sight-lines seem more limited and the UConnect system is ok, but takes some getting used to. Adaptive transmission needs a better learning algorithm. Very pleased so far and looking forward to driving in the mountains this ski season. Paid $38K for those interested.
