Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Jeep Rocks! - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Spitfire - May 9 - 10:00 amThis is the 3rd Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Ive purchased. The only reason Ive bought three is that I like to update the Jeep every so often. I had a 1993, 1998, and now a 2001. Before I bought my 1st & 2nd Jeep, I test-drove pretty much every SUV available. By far, the Jeeps reliability and comfort are the main reasons why I will continue to update my Jeep with another Jeep. My other car is a BMW and if I could only have one, it would be the Jeep Gr Ch LTD. It has all the options I wanted and the price was right. Its a great SUV.

Took Me A Couple Weeks to Really Love It - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By GLO - May 8 - 10:30 amTraded in the 2005 Rocky Mountain Edition 4x4 JCG,which I absolutely loved. Have been waiting for 1 year for the new 2011.Purchased the 4x4 6 cyl 26X pkg. (same color Inferno Red) What took me a couple of weeks to get used to was the wider/higher size. A few blind spots & I wasnt as comfortable changing lanes. But I do love it now! The interior is 100% improvement. The media center/stereo system is fantastic. Great not having to carry all my CDs w/ ability to download to the media hard disk drive. Love the rear assist camera and flawless smooth ride. Mostly small city driving, so do not care if I have 6 or V8 , but much better pick up with the 3.6 L, 6 cyl. than the previous 6 cyl.

Awesome on and offroad! - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By hemijeeperz5_7l - May 8 - 2:33 amThis is one of a few vehicles that offer an electronic limited slip front/center/rear. Other vehicles like the H1 and the Range Rover offer this type of four wheel drive system and both of them cost over $100,000.00. I love my Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7L Hemi. I have changed the exhaust to a 3" Magna Flow and put an inexpensive Cold Air Intake on it. I can run a 15.68 second quarter mile time and the thing weighs 5200 lbs with me in it. That is awesome. The road grip is second to none hands down. I have been in school 210 miles from home and had to drive it home on weekends this past winter and had no issues, even with 6" of snow on the Highway.

No More Grand Cherokees for me! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Billdozer - May 6 - 12:53 pmThe first major problem was the rear differential. At 62,000 it was toast. OK, my fault. Never had it serviced. Periodic maintenance "forces" you into Schedule B (any driving in freezing weather) which includes changing front rear axle fluid every 12,000 miles at $140 an axle, etc. Never serviced any of the 5 Subs either. The Nav sys display has quit working. It has come on a couple of times, then off again. Dealer says to replace it. Today it goes into local shop. Sometimes it just stalls. Now the elect. fan just runs for no reason. Engine temp OK. AC went last year. Has new compressor. Now it has quit. This is the SUV from hell!

Drives Like a Dream - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By rameses000 - May 5 - 10:19 amHave owned this model Jeep since 2005 and have had the usual maintenance problems others have talked about. The rotor trouble is easily fixed by installing a reputable brand brake rotor - not one made by Chrysler. Have the same front rotors for the past 7 years with no problem. Accelerates like a sports car and fuel consump is 18/24. Otherwise usual maintenance only. In 2007 the front end of my Jeep was hit and completely run over by a Semi while it was parked at a store. $3300 in body damage only. Mechanic said nothing to worry about, Its a Jeep. Thing runs like it just drove off the showroom floor. For me, its a keeper.

Good but not the best for the price - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jose - May 4 - 10:22 pmAfter 16,000 miles sometimes I hear some noises from the suspensions. The ride is quiet, good comfort but stability in wet road is not the best, have to be carefull,I think the tires are too cheap(Fortera). Is a good suv,but I make a mistake when I trade my 2008 Acura MDX.

Poor Reliability and Customer Service - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ereddingto - May 2 - 10:00 amThis was my second JGC. Had trouble with transmission reliability on the 1st, but not until late in ownership. 2d Jeep had xsmn problems from the start. I took it into the dealership multiple times; they kept supposedly fixing it, but the transmission would continue to shift rough. It ended up in the shop 4 X in 16 months for xsmn problems. It should have been in more times than that, but I kept relying on the service personnel that the problems were minor. Only on the 4th trip-- after the warranty had just expired-- was a substantial $350 problem diagnosed. Despite the Hx, Corporate HQ refused to cover the repair under the warranty.

Krissis Review - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Krissi - May 2 - 10:00 amI love the way that the vehicle drives. It is very comfortable and fun also. I like the jeeps that have leather interior and I love the color black for the exterior color. The interior color should be grey.

Unleash the beast - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By i love my jeep - May 1 - 10:00 amI love my Jeep and would trade it for the world. Ive never had a problem and would recommend to anyone. The inline 6 is great. Gas mileage is great for an SUV. I get about 26-28 hwy and 16-19 city. I put on over 5000 miles in the last 3 months and still no problem. I added some new features such as wider rims and cold air intake and its the hottest thing on the streets. Reliable, strong, efficient. Keep it up Jeep

Just an update - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Katrina Woiten - May 1 - 10:00 amIve posted here before but I am doing so again for two reasons: one, all of us having issues with the admittedly awful cloth seats need to be aware of one little trick, get some tuff- stuff upholstery cleaner (available in all automotive departments) spray the entire seat, wipe with a wet cloth. This will reset the cloth and return it to a uniform appearance. I also recently had to have a shift module replaced by the dealer, a 750 dollar part made in the Czech republic, remember the tranny in this car is a German one with all the good and bad attributes of such. what precipitated this repair was at times the car simply would not start and after some key wiggling etc it would.
