Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Blind Spots - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Rebecca - May 20 - 3:50 amThe Grand Cherokee performs and handles well with a comfortable seat. The main con that I have found with this vehicle is that even when you turn to check your blind spot when switching lanes, the blind spot is so bad that you still cant see! If forces you to rely on your mirrors. I would not put a child in my vehicle because of the fact that you should not rely solely on mirrors when driving. I suggest that Jeep go back to its original design so that I can see when I change lanes.

Best of the SUVs - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Steven F - May 19 - 2:00 amThis is my 3rd Jeep owned in 12 years and without a doubt the best. We have 6500 miles on it and have taken the vehicle over the WV, VA and NC mountains on 3 trips without one problem. Around town our SUV responds to stop and go traffic nicely. Our Grand Cherokee Overland held the road in all types of weather. The engine and transmission were flawless. The seats were very comfortable for long distance driving. The cockpit is well laid out too.

This Jeep Saved My Life - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By articwinds - May 19 - 2:00 amI purchased a 1999 Jeep Grd Laredo in 11/02. In 12/02,5 weeks after owning it, a 4-dr Ford F-350 ran a red light and hit my little Jeep. The air bags did exactly as they are suppose to do. They inflated instantly and deflated just as fast. I have no visible injuries from the air bag, the seat belt or the truck. I just have muscle and back pain. This Jeep saved my life, but unfortunatley I could not save its life. I bought it for $16,100.00 and it had a total damage of $16,539.+. I will always miss that 1999 but I have replaced it with a 2000 (same color of course). I highly recommend this truck.

Bought used and still happy... - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By billwfriend - May 19 - 2:00 amPicked up used about a year ago...previously owned by a little old lady who put on 60K in 2&1/2 yrs. Paid 2K under Edmunds TMV. Happy with the quiet, subtle ride 13K later. Avg 17.5- 19.0 MPG per tank, mostly hwy miles. Engine 4.0 powerfull enough (no towing). Comfortable leather seats and fantastic 200 watt Infinity CD/Cassette. Only quality issue has been broken passenger door hinge, wouldnt open - $200.00. Only minor pulsating on braking. Found local repair shop to perform factory suggested maintenance for cheap.

BUYER BEWARE - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Buyer Beware - May 19 - 2:00 amDO NOT BUY a Jeep. 3 recalls, in the 1st year. Head gasket is leaking oil, The dealers service advisor calls it, "sweating", and states that it is normal. Took me to see another Jeep, and said that this is normal, and acceptable. Seems to me that DC has a quality control problem. Will not be keeping after lease expires. Too bad, it is a beautiful vehicle, with crappy quality

Enjoyable - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dave - May 16 - 4:53 amThe vehicle is fun to drive and is excellent in snow. The 5.7 engine is awesome and power is always there when needed. This is my first Jeep and will not be the last. I have recommended Jeep to my friends looking for a new car. Of all the other SUVs on the market, I found the Jeep to be the best.

Somewhat Disappointing - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By DEAN BONNEMA - May 15 - 6:23 amWe have found this vehicle to be somewhat less than what we expected from Jeep. We have four main complaints. 1. It does not get anywhere close to the promised gas mileage. 2. It down shifts very hard when on the interstate. 3. The comfort of the seats is not good for long trips. 4. In the first 30,000 miles we had to replace brake rotors & pads, and had to replace fuel injectors, very little of which was covered under warranty. I would not buy another Jeep SUV.

C.P.s 1999 Cherokee - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Cliff P. - May 14 - 10:00 amSeveral problems with brakes but dealer did most of the work in warranty. Other than that, this has been a very nice vehicle. I will definitely buy another one. Dealer service very good.

99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By pbs8704 - May 14 - 2:00 amAlthough it looks nice and rides nice, and the engine has been basically dependable, Ive had so many "minor" things go wrong with this vehicle that I would NEVER buy another one. Currently less than 41,000 miles. Stereo speakers blew, O-rings replaced, front rotors turned twice and rear rotors turned once (at less than 36,000 miles), leaking windows, misc. electrical failures, three recalls, tailight assemblies replaced, front driver seat assembly replaced ... the list goes on and on.

Great 1st car - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ro88i3 - May 11 - 3:55 pmI saved up and bought this jeep with 168,000. It had a major transmission leak and oil leak but with some seals and elbow grease they were fixed. The heated seats and rear wiper are still not working. The sunroof doesnt work but the engine and 4wd system works amazing. I can go down muddy roads while sitting in the comfortable leather seats and listen to the radio. It had 3!!! blown speakers when i bought it. I love the jeep and ill keep it forever! The only thing that I dont like about it is the MPG 15 at best. WOW!
