Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

5 repairs in 30k miles - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Zoobrew - July 4 - 10:00 amBeautiful exterior. Great off-road performance, but the love affair ends there. Stiff bumpy uncomfortable ride. Needed to replace entire braking system at 15,000 miles and Im no speeder. 4 major electrical problems in the first 30,000 miles. Will never buy another Jeep. They look great but cost of ownership and inconvenience are awful!!!

poor interior design - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By gram gram - July 4 - 10:00 amthe inside was poorly designed. there isnt enough leg room on a long trip. not enough places to put glasses and things. I feel closed in the jeep should be wider. Other than that I love my jeep

Great so far - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By froggy13 - July 4 - 8:10 amAfter driving the 1997 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L 6cyl. for several years the 2006 does not disappoint. The 4.7 has plenty of power and is smooth as silk in either light to light driving or at highway speeds. The only down side is that it is a bit harder to see out of than the 97 but large side view mirrors help. Also the adjustable pedals are great for keeping the shorter people in your life well back from the airbags which is a huge piece of mind for me.

Dont Buy It! - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By agingdad - July 2 - 2:00 amWe bought ours last year with 80000 miles on it and have regretted it ever since. Ive been thinking that whoever owned it first must have been really hard on it, but these reviews tell me its just a shoddy product. You cant even change out the taillight without special tools to take apart the entire assembly. Weve worked on electrical problems galore, water pump, power steering, door locks, mirrors, wipers, etc.

Like a good old friend - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Car_Crazy - June 26 - 7:16 amI bought my v8 5.2 liter engine Grand Cherokee in 03 with 116,000 miles on it and I have had it for two years now with 127k miles. The performance, comfort, and looks are just excellent. However, the fuel economy is extremely poor. Driving in the hot summer days with A/C on I get around 12 mpg. As for reliability, I havent had any major problems so far. Just one time the A/C broke down but my friend is a mechanic and fixed it at no charge.

What I expected - quality - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ron_dar - June 23 - 8:50 amWe just returned from a 2147 roundtrip and averaged 26.7 mpg including four days in Denver. Our Overland has just over 3000 miles on it and I fully expect the gas mileage to continue to improve. My wife wanted to wait for the new diesel, but I did not see paying $4500 extra was justified. A cruising range of over 600 miles for a gasoline V6 SUV is exceptional. The Overland comes fully loaded and is by far a much better than the ML320 CDI we previously owned. It is also a much better value than the MD ML. We put on over 500 miles per day to and from Denver and we were very comfortable in the Overland. It is quiet, powerful, comfortable, economical for its size and a joy to drive.

one and only - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jay jay - June 21 - 10:30 amThis car is great. It has so much going for it. Time will tell how reliable it is, but for now Im very happy. The fact that I dont see many on the road is another good quality. Some would say Im stepping down from a BMW x5 4.4, but Im in the know. Ill have the last laugh, and at the finish line. I could care less for status symbol. I want performance. I get all the same perks navigation system, park assist, and hands free Bluetooth technology and great sound system. I can not compromise that. I paid an extra $1200 to BMW to get the premium sound. SRT-8 kicks.

Water Leaks - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ken Hale - June 20 - 10:36 amWith only 1300 miles and three trips to the dealership I have not received any satisfaction with a leak. If it rains hard I can be assured of water leaking into the drivers compartment. Im very disappointed by the lack of interest on the part of the dealership and Chrysler on repairing this issue. There appears to be an obvious design flaw they appear unwilling to confront. Chrysler gets a zero on customer satisfaction or empathy. Despite being a Chrysler customer since 1987 I would stay away from this company. Theyre giving American manufactures a bad name.

Money Pit on Wheels - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Craig7 - June 20 - 10:00 amBought used w/83K miles on Oct 01. Now has 117K and getting more expensive by the day. Ive racked up over $3000 in maintenance costs just in the last five months. Transfer case work, rebuilt transmission, broken motor mounts, wheel bearings, power steering pump, various steering component replacements, etc. AC has leaks. Except for the transmission and transfer case, I did all the repairs. Would have cost much more. Still needs front end work for an unknown popping sound.
