Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

jeep grand cherokee - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By spinelli - July 13 - 10:00 amThis jeep has been my baby for the past 5 years and I LOVE it...it is comfortable and safe and secure. The exterior color is black and the interior is a charcoal grey. It has never been in an accident or broken dow. It has also been very reliable.

A big dissappointment - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By aj1972 - July 13 - 2:15 amStay away from this vehicle, I am having nothing but mechanical issues with this. With in a month a component in the radio went out (which controls a lot of features in the vehicle) and it had to be replaced. After two months the instrument panel went out as well as the gauges quit working, now they are ordering me a new dash panel. I have had this car close to two months and have nothing but problems. Please research this vehicle, as well as other vehicles, before buying the cherokee. I have noticed in the jeep forums that the same issues are occurring with other people. I wish I had never traded my other vehicle.

Love My Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By R Copeland - July 12 - 5:06 pmHandles great. Smoothest riding SUV Ive been in. The V6 is a bit sluggish but the fuel economy is good for a SUV. Everyone that sees it loves it. Tons of standard features.

Love everything but dust leaks - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Diane T - July 11 - 8:50 pmLove my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition. It handles like a luxury vehicle but drives with confidence in all the various conditions we get throughout the year in the central USA.

Beautiful but dies for no curable reason - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By earmbru - July 10 - 10:00 amI love my Jeep but it dies sporadically. The dealership thinks it is a connection problem but the $ to trace all the connections is too much because there is still no guarantee that they can find the problem. It isnt the O2 sensor - I tried that after researching the Internet. A needless $300 fix because it still dies. It happens on the freeway, back roads, side roads, no consistentcy. I wish I could get it fixed because I hate to give it up. However, last week it died 4 times on day and 3 the next. It took me 4 hours to drive 40 miles because it kept dying and wouldnt restart immediately.

So impressed I bought a 2nd one! - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By vinton69 - July 9 - 12:09 amI bought my 1st new and loved the comfort and reliability of my 1st Jeep. At 286,000 miles I hit a big buck on the way to work. I decided to let it go because of the mileage and damage. I couldnt get it out of my mind after over 20 years of ownership so I kinda kept a eye out for another one. I found one just like my old Limited with only 155,00 miles on it and now its sitting in my driveway. Other than the lousy (EPA) paint job I think it is one of Jeeps best ever vehicles.

Most sought JEEP model - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By joanne - July 8 - 10:43 amThey didnt make too many of them, theyre in high demand. Theres also a club for just this model. Minimal repairs since owning vehicle. Most luxurious Jeep model and year Ive seen. Gas Mileage could be better, 20 on the freeway, less in town. Still going strong after almost 20 years. Still looks nearly new.

The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike - July 7 - 2:06 amThis is a great vehicle. As long as you take care of the basic maintenance it will run forever. The offroad performance is also very good. Highway is comfortable. I have the I6 4.0 engine. Power sunroof and leather seats. Black inside and out. The only thing that is a knock on the vehicle is the highway. There is some hesitation when going from overdrive to one of the lower gears. That is to be expected with the I6. But overall it isnt a big deal because if you lower the throttle even more the it can really move. The gas mileage is as follows. 60-67 23-24 mpg. 67-74 21-18 mpg. City speeds it is about 15-16 mpg. Great vehicle for Michigan, not to mention it was and still is made in Detroit.

Boring - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Whatever - July 6 - 10:20 amMine has 120,000 miles on it so its probably time to dump it. Ive had all the problems listed by other owners, but they seem to be in line with most cars of this age. I have found my cloth seats to be very uncomfortable. The gas mileage is very weak. The radio is weak. The pitching and yawing is weak. The drive quality goes down from there if you go faster that 80 mph (which is probably a good thing -- like a speed governor). The car is boring at all times except when you stomp on the V8 at a green light.
