Model Overview:

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.

Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

I was looking for a full size truck, but found the ideal vehicle for me and my family. This car fits exactly want we want in a vehicle. 4WD with comfort and style. It was not a selection for this review, but we got the V8 Hemi. I drove the V6 and V8, the V8 is the way to go. If you are loaded down and traveling through the mountain passes, you will want the V8.

Bought this Jeep as a demo with 6k miles on it. Has been a great car since then. I follow the maintenance schedule religiously, and the only problem ive had is the front window regulator, which was quickly replaced under warranty at an oil change. I find coupons on the jeep website for a $21.95 oil change and tire rotation, which is great. I really love this car, it is fun to drive, the perfect size, and i average 17.7 mpg is soley city driving! Runs great on regular fuel. It is the perfect car for me. I cannot wait for the 2011 version to come out, i am hooked on Jeeps!

  • Dont Waste your money - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had nothing but issues with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The mechanics in the automatic windows is faulty, this model has a well documented faulty brake problem, with a class action lawsuit to boot. The transmission is no dream either, constantly slips and has trouble shifting gears. This oversized golf cart is quite possibly the worst investment that you can ever make, save your money and get an Accord. Ive also had issues with alignment on the vehicle, so in short I really dont have anything positive to save about the Jeep Grand Cherokee other than the fact that the wheels have not flown off the vehicle while driving but I must say that is about it. Hope this helps.

Got the Jeep with 75k on it; looked great and ran well until 80 k. Replaced struts, radiator, tune up( 16 plugs!) Trans now jumps into 3rd gear all the time-dealer has no idea what the problem is. Dash lights continually flash , not a bad car but expected more from jeeps flagship. Update; This jeep HAD to have been built on a Monday morning by the hungover or still drunk workers from the law. Too many gremlins and expensive fixes to mention. Will never look at another Chrysler product in my life. terrible....just terrible.

  • Great blend of comfort and capability. - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Where I live here in the Colorado mountains, I must have a solid and capable 4x4. The JGC has filled the bill with style. I think that those who criticize the JGC on bumps have not driven a 4x4 with solid floating axles front and rear before. It simply amazes me how responsive and smooth the JGC is considering the tough and proven components that make up the drivetrain and suspension. Mine had a bit of body roll too, but was practically eliminated with the installation of a set of quality tires with stronger sidewalls, in this case, Pirelli Scorpion STRs. The JGC is awesome on snow and ice through twisty mountain roads, and is smooth with good feel on the highway.

  • Only in a Jeep - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After buying several domestic vehicles and having horrible quality, we were ready to give into a foreign vehicle. I wanted something fun to drive, yet a good size and could fit the family, luggage and myself and something good in the snow. My friends who had a 95 Grand Cherokee said that they loved theirs and that they have had nothing but basic maintenance done on theirs with 162,000 miles on it (still running too!). So with that, we looked into them, found one with the strong, efficient, and long-lasting 4.0 I-6 and bought it. We have had it for 1.5 years and we have almost 36,000 miles of trouble-free driving. Its fun, great size, and gets 17mpg in city and sometimes 22 on the highway. Great SUV!

I owned others SUVs for the past 15 years. This 2007 Jeep is the most elegant of them all. The Jeep is fun to drive and the weight of the vehicle makes you feel safe.

  • Stay AWAY from the Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchasing this car was the biggest mistake Ive ever made! Buyer beware - read the reviews/complaints before spending all this money on a vehicle that has so much hesitation on acceleration that Im pretty sure Im going to get killed. A vehicle is suppose to move forward when pressing on the gas peddle. Instead the engine revs really loud like Im in a plane taking off but your still not going anywhere. In the meantime, the window of opportunity to pull out is quickly decreasing because of oncoming traffic (to the point where I would no longer feel safe in doing so) Then the car finally reacts and lurches forward throwing everyone back in their seats. To oncoming traffic and passengers in my car, it looks like Im pulling out at the last minute and cutting them off. This happens during All accelerations, back streets and highway driving. I brought it back to the dealer and took the service manager for a drive and his response was thats normal! He confirmed that it drives this way but to say its NORMAL is unacceptable. I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland and will trade it as soon as possible!

This vehicle loves to be thrown into hard turns at speed. Very composed. The new wider track and longer wheelbase give it a smooth ride. Quiet cabin at 70 mph. Feels solid and comfortable. Exterior manages to look tough and sophisticated at the same time. As good as my old BMW X5 but much less expensive.much less expensive.
