Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

3rd X a charm...hopefully: tran trouble - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By mimi77 - October 14 - 3:46 pmIn 2006 we bought an 05 Laredo (18K mi) because we needed a bigger car after having 2nd baby. I had to have it, always wanted a Jeep Cherokee. Not 10 months later transmission had to be rebuilt. 10 months later again, transmission had to be replaced. Both times under warranty, but I have a feeling work was already done, before we got it. 1 year later we are having same problem: leaking fluid and starting to shift hard, taking it in for third time in less than 3 years. Never ever buying a Jeep again, for that matter any Chrysler-Daimler make.

not bad - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Katrina Woiten - October 12 - 1:33 amI purchased this in July with 22k on it and loved it from the get go with only a few reservations, first:the dealership never did give me the 500 dollar gas card I was promised so that soured the experience somewhat. Also the radio went haywire after a few months and the passenger window has a mind of its own at times, the local dealer (not where I bought it) has been great with warranty work though. I would like to have them put the manual control for the 4wd back though as I prefer to decide when this is on. Handles well, drives like a car! Gas mileage is abysmal for a v6... I average 19 or so.

04 Grand Cherokee Laredo - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By jame s flood - October 10 - 6:06 am40k miles and on 4th set of replacement front rotors. They represent the 5th set of front rotors. Would not buy another Jeep unless the problem (inherent since the mid 80s Im told) was resolved.

Cool Truck - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By NV - October 8 - 8:56 amI just got this Jeep about a month ago with 150k miles. I had to have some long needed maintenance done, but aside from that its been great so far. It has about a 4 inch body lift with mud terrain tires and nice rims. It also has great power and it does extremely well offroad. Gas mileage is bad, but that is just a price you have to pay. Overall it seems great and handles well.

Pleased - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Ramboxman - October 7 - 10:00 amMoving from a cadiliac eldorado, Ride is confortable and visablitiy is great. Drives much smoother than Fords SUVs. Infinity sound system could use a sub-wover. Air condition is by far not cool enough. Lots of complaints about A/C also could definetly use rear vents like every other SUV. Other than that very fun to drive Quada Track is very responsive as well. Tried my hardest to get wheels to break and could not. Locking gas cap could be nice as well.

my fourth Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By doug wolfe - October 6 - 9:50 amLooks good, and is comfortable. The gas mileage is poor (I had the 4.7l in my previous one, which got 2 mpg better); head clearance is awful if youre 59" or above, and to make matters worse they removed the 6-way power seat and put in a 4-way so that you cant lower the seat height. The four wheel drive is suspect (I have gotten it stuck twice already). Jeep has sacrificed little comforts also such as removing the sun visor extensions which is annoying, but that "trail rated" badge sure is nifty. Forget changing your own oil, or doing other "minor repairs" unless you have a garage with a lift, and a degree from MIT. Somewhere jeep has lost its identity to the soccer moms. Good luck.

My all black 2017 Altitude - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Sarge - October 6 - 8:52 amThis is my third Grand Cherokee. And this by far is the best. I am in love with the updates and the comfort and obvious appearance of the Altitude. A few outward mods and I feel it represents me well driving down the street. Everything from turning radius to the feel of the wheel when driving, Stereo system, seat comfort, etc... Heads keep turning and the positive comments keep on coming in. I am a Mopar- Jeep guy at heart and am truly glad I leased another grand Cherokee. The comments about the engine turning off at stops is a bit ridiculous. All you have to do is PUSH a BUTTON to turn that feature off. Cmon. And this V6 is quick. Very quick with a "Sport" mode which I rarely use. How fast do you really want to go in an SUV ? But this one is quicker than my previous two. Plenty of power if you need to avoid someone or something, or pass another vehicle. I Just love this Jeep.
