Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

New car - 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike Porter - November 29 - 8:45 pmIve only had the vehicle a month but so far Im pretty impressed. The interior looks high end, the ride is smooth. I love the overall look of the vehicle. Gas milage could be a little better and i think the engine is under powered i also hate the start/stop function. So far I really love car.

Impressed with the 4.0 - 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BBull - November 29 - 2:00 amPurchased used in 98 with 28K miles, still driving with 242K. Very impressed with the inline 6. Have replaced water pump, EX manifold, computer, etc. mostly myself for low cost. Trans rebuild at 152K. Recently changed idle air control valve and throttle body sensor; got back to average 19MPG in city & 23 MPG HWY. Solid engine, would recommend the inline 6 and would buy again but this one is till running literally like it was 12 years ago.

Its a Jeep thing - you know! - 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By AJeepThing - November 27 - 5:43 amI was lucky, my 94 JGC was not build on Monday! I got 245K+ miles on it with very little reliability issues. Water pump needed replacement after 160K miles ($450 repair) Transmission seal let-go after 210K miles ($475 repair for a $3.50 seal!). I just loved the interior pillow leather, great stereo system by Infinity and great air conditioning. I can drive for thousands of miles on trips and not get tired. Original engine with no oil leaks, strong compression check, plugs still runs clean after every 20K miles. Cat Converter + exhaust changed at 185K miles. I went synthetic in transmission, transfer case, differential, engine, steering pump. Parts inexpensive for 2 million JGC 93-98!

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Railroader - November 26 - 2:00 amI bought this vehicle off lease. It has most of the available options. Ive added a K&N Air Intake and FlowMaster exhaust. These additions, plus shifting the onboard computer into "police mode" probably get you close to 300 horsepower. This is a wonderful machine, capable of rugged off-roading and neck snapping on- road performance. Fit and finish were unsurpassed by any vehicle Ive owned to date. Truly fun to drive!

Cant wait to get rid of it...... - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By iamjimmya - November 26 - 2:00 amIve now owned it for a year and half, and in that time I will have had to had done all the things that you read on this site: had the differential seals done twice because they kept leaking, brakes, fuel line seals(to fix pressure in the fuel line), and the bearings replaced on the back end. Bought it because I loved how it looked, how it drove, (and I still do) but should have paid the extra and bought a Toyota.....

AWESOME OVERLAND - UPDATE - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dave L. - November 26 - 2:00 amRefer to Dave C. review earlier...I now have 68,500 miles on my 02 JGC Overland...original tires, brakes etc...I have not had any work done other than normal oil changes and tire rotation. Ive joined a local Jeep club and have taken the JGC in places I would never take my 4wd Dodge truck. Also took a Colorado trip and at 14k feet, the view is remarkable. Ill never own another SUV.

By rylemm - November 26 - 2:00 amMy second Jeep, very predictable, reliable, handles very well on snow and ice, V6 a bit sluggish would opt for V8.

watch your speed - 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By MysteryMan - November 24 - 11:30 pmI started my Jeep affiliation in the Army with the M151a2 (& a3s), talk about go anywhere. I tried other vehicles but finally tired of getting stuck in the snow & unable to truly off road, I purchased a 2000 Cherokee Sport. Loved it! As a District Manager for a local newspaper, that vehicle was just perfect. Bad road conditions & winters in upstate NY had met their match. Then the GC caught my eye & I bought a 2001 in 2006 @ a fair price w/nice options and 83k miles. After replacing the rear stabilizer bearings, the only real problem I have is the blind spot issue. The space between the forward part of the pass/side front window, leading to the windshield is dangerous. look twice before you go.

Love the Hemi 4x4 - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Karl - November 24 - 6:53 amI bought my Limited 4x4 Hemi new on 10/30/05 and have driven 10,700 miles of highway and offroad (sand, dirt, mud). It has been reliable, with warranty replacement of the amplifier. The check engine light comes on every now and then, but has been repaired by the dealer (reprogram computer). I like the power, clean looks, and simplicity. Previously I drove a Corvette and a Ford Expedition. The Hemi provides Jeep with an SUV that has sports car power. It handles mud, sand, and gravel just fine. The gauges, controls, etc. are easy to use. Im not extreme -- just like to take it to the beach and mild offroad trails. I also considered the Toyota 4Runner, but wanted the Hemi. No regrets.

Great Jeep - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Lonnie - November 23 - 11:03 amIÂ’ve driven 3 Laredos but this time I decided to go to the top. The Limited is really great to drive. I didnÂ’t think I would ever use the NAV but it was a big help when I had to find my son at a hospital emergency room. I only wish the NAV was real time so I could avoid gridlock. I am glad that the CD changer was moved from the rear of the vehicle to the dash. I love the tire monitor as well, great idea.
