Overview & Reviews
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the pioneers that ushered in the modern midsize SUV in the early 1990s. Jeep has always wanted the Grand Cherokee to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to tow your toys or shuttle your passengers to a remote campsite. Modern Grand Cherokees are far more refined than the early models, but they're no less versatile.
Unlike most other traditional SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike unibody platform for superior on-road handling. Yet Jeep's strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained, thanks to the Grand Cherokee's advanced four-wheel-drive systems and capable suspension. It's a rare combination of attributes in a modern utility vehicle, as the Jeep is able to venture farther off the beaten path than competing crossover SUVs.

Read all the facts before you buy! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Matt - January 26 - 5:33 amThis was my first significant buy when it comes to an SUV and it was the BIGGEST mistake I could have made. I have owned the Jeep for 29 days and it has made 4 trips to the repair shop! Many difficulties with it not starting up, but just cranking and cranking. The shifting from Park to either Reverse or Drive is a real hard shift and makes me wonder if there are problems with the design with the transmission. The reliability for Jeep is garbage! I use to own a Jeep Wrangler and I was a die hard fan of JeepÂ…not so much anymore. I am taking mine back and buying a Nissan Xterra. Read all the other reviews and you too will see there are many problems. BEWARE!!

3rd Jeep - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Jerry - January 21 - 4:03 amThis is my third Jeep, I love them and my only complaint is that I waited so long to purchase one. I brought this one is 2007; I have not had any problems oil change regularly and it keeps me moving. I have to drive all over the Lancaster county for my job, I might start my day off at one end of the county and finish my day a the other end and my jeep always gets the job done no matter if I travel highways or dirt roads. Fuel is another story, but I am not willing to give up a car I love for money. Im looking forward to the 2011; they are changing the body again, it looks smooth.

Never Again... - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Kevin - January 20 - 4:53 pmThis was my 2nd JGCL. I previously owned a 2004 JGCL and loved it, never a problem. However I currently own the last Jeep Ill ever own. Bought new off the lot 19 mths ago and its been in the shop 4 times. First the windows would randomly roll down on their own. The back window gate latch will not catch, have to slam SEVERAL times to get it to catch. Several times a week it will stall around 20mph, no matter how hard you stomp the gas...was fixed, now a reoccurring problem. Now at 42,000 miles, I just got it out of the shop today due to the water pump, fan belt, and thermostat. Of course its still under the powertrain warranty, but its about to find itself another owner!

Transmission problems - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By BC - January 16 - 7:43 pmWatch out on this one. They changed transmissions this year and they had a seal problem. I took mine in twice with water in the transmission. All they did was flush it and seal it with sealer, no actual repair of seal or new transmission. After the second visit, we told them it was still acting sluggish but they told us the machine could find nothing wrong. Long story short, the transmission went out yesterday while we were traveling. Had to creep home in a low gear. Now trying to get it towed. The alignment also went out at 10,000 miles and ate into the tread wear. I will never buy another one.

Still rolling - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By chucksizzle - January 16 - 9:56 amBought new 1n 1999, all options available including 4.7 ltr v-8, have driven it all over. I have about 160,000 miles now, most miles in cold weather climate., am now in south, ac just went out, not compressor but a couple smaller parts., been repaired along with vent door problem, had 100,000 mile warranty, so all minor problems were taken care of by dealer then. Still a daily driver. My 4th Jeep.

2015 Summit luxury - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dan - January 14 - 10:22 pmThe car has all the bells and whistles that other vehicles charge lots more money for. Its a great car. If the following were addressed it would be tops! For a vehicle that has a window sticker price of $54,000 the seats are very uncomfortable after about three hours of driving. The steering could be better sport tuned like the competitors vehicles. And finally , the navigation system could be improved to give to options For the route to take and other simple improvements.

Excellent SUV for the price! - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By chicagofan00 - January 14 - 8:00 pmPicked up a JGC Overland Summit edition just last week. This is probably one of the best SUVs for the price in its class. The Overland Summit trim level is fully loaded with all kinds of technology and features and competes with the likes of the BMW X5, Merc M class, and the Audi Q7 all for several thousands less. The fit and finish both inside and out is perfect, the ride quality is great especially with the quadra lift air suspension, the tech inside competes with the luxury foreign brands although the UConnect interface does look a bit date but very easy to use. The 5.7L V8 engine has plenty of power for this beast but is very thirsty and Im only averaging about 13.8 MPG.

Outstanding mountain vehicle - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By ocular2 - January 14 - 2:00 amTheres a reason you see so many JGCs in Colorado. They work well in the city, cruise comfortable on the highway at 90 mph, but they excel off- road. Off-road capabilities place it in an elite class including the Land Cruiser, the Range Rover and G-wagon. I have had mine for a year and have not had a reason to go back to the dealer other than for oil changes, tire rotations, and adding additional skid plates.

My First Jeep - I love it! - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By anjohsen - January 14 - 2:00 amI always loved the way the Grand Cherokee looked, but was a little nervous about the reliabilty rating. I got a great deal and after over a year Ive had no problems at all. I just love driving it and will definitely buy another next time (except Ill probably spring for the 4WD).
