This Year's Model Updates:

The Hyundai Sonata is redesigned for 2015 with a more refined look and a larger cabin. A new Eco trim level with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine also debuts, although the more powerful 2.0T trim level has nearly 30 fewer horsepower.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride
  • Lots of standard and optional features for the money
  • Quiet and roomy interior
  • Solid build quality.
Cons:
  • Sweeping roof line compromises headroom for taller passengers.
  • Disappointing acceleration from Sport 2.0T

  • Absolutely Fantastic Car! - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Ive owned my 2015 Sonata for almost 6 months. I actually purchased a 2014 Sonata and when I took it in for the first scheduled maintenance I decided to take a look at the 2015. Long story short I drove out with one! Hyundai made numerous changes from the previous years and every one of them is an improvement. They turned a nice looking car into an absolute beauty! The 2015 has more interior room and drives like a dream. The interior was completely redesigned and simply looks awesome. I already have 17,000 miles on it and have not had any problems whatsoever. I am 6 1" and even after a 400+ mile day have absolutely no lower back pain at all.

Hyundai Bluelink service is horrible. Works sometimes and alerts you when you have a issue. But does not elaborate on the issue. Customer service is horrendous. The dealerships service departments are terrible at least here in NYC. My friend started having issues with his 2015 sonata at 2500 miles. My check engine light started at just under 5500 miles. TPMS issues as well. Going off for no reason. The sunroof creaks and rattles. The leather is nice until a few months later and I always clean and moisturize with meguires wipes. Rearview camera doesnt always kick in. I can go on and on but I think whomever is reading this got the point.

  • Very good car, could be better! - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Ive had the car for a little longer than a year with almost 6,500 mi. Its my first Hyundai and Im generally impressed with the overall build quality and performance of the car. Because of its quietness and solid road feel, it makes a great trip car. The seat support is very good and the dash arrangement is logical which makes it easy to use while driving. The roomy back seat is comfortable for 3 adults and the oversized trunk is well laid out, great for grocery getting and large suit cases. A few miner complains though; (1) Exhaust note, needs to be refined, doesnt sound all that great. (2) Holds first gear a little too long when accelerating even in sport mode. Overall, I really do like the car. The outside styling is very nice and the ride is firm and takes most bumps and dips in the road with a secured refinement. I just couldnt give it a perfect 5 stars. Sorry, Im picky!

  • 3rd Hyundai/Kia product in 8 yrs with no regrets - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

First off, its a Sport 2.0T Limited. No choice for that in the sub categories. Was in the auto repair business for 30 years. Owned German cars. Reliability became questionable as time went on. 2008 Sonata traded with 115,000 miles with nothing other than normal maintenance. Its still on the road with 240K+.Traded for a 2012 Kia Forte SX 5 door. 80,000 miles on it now. No issues. Never seen a check engine light other than at start up with either. Never not started for any reason other than a battery replacement. Never left stranded. Took delivery of a new 2015 Sonata Sport 2.0T Limited March 2016. Love it. Im 6ft 2, 200 lbs and have nerve damage in my legs from cancer/chemo. The most comfortable seats of any car Ive owned. Drove 400 miles in 6 hours last week and could have kept going. 75+ mph, 90+ degree temps with the a/c on the whole time and some construction delays, I still averaged nearly 28mpg on that trip - and the car only has 2500 miles on it so the engine is still tight. Android Auto is great. I can dictate a text with the roof open at 70 mph and it works great. If youre buying a car in this price range for 0-60 times and not how it performs under "normal" driving, then you just need to get a Subaru WRX STi lol. Do you drive with your foot to the floor all day, every day ? SHEESH lol. No matter how fast your car is, theres always one faster. Ride is taught just how I like it. Brakes are great. Steering is ok for electric steering but every time I drive the Forte, I miss that real mechanical connection. Thats my only gripe. Blind spot monitor, smart cruise control are great. I didnt rate reliability or dealer service. I took it in at 900 miles for an oil change. I maintain my cars MY way, which is usually better than the recommended service intervals. I bought it with the reliability of the current Kia and previous Sonata in mind and expect nothing less. THANKFULLY no CVT transmission. UPDATE 11/18/2016 - Going on 9 months and 9,000 miles. Downloaded the nav uodate with Apple CarPlay so can connect either phone now. Still feel the same way about this car and no regrets. My other half got a little new car envy lol, so we traded the 2012 Forte SX 5 door for a 2016 Forte5 EX loaded with Premium/Tech, and factory remote start. So now its 4 Hyundai / Kia products and loving them.

  • unless youre looking for trouble stay clear - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

I purchased a new 2015 fully loaded Sonata 2.0 T. I was pretty happy with it until fuel injectors went bad when the car had less than 9000 miles on it. that caused spark plugs and coils go bad and finally catalytic converter! There are three things that bothers me about this car: ***1- Hyundai itself: they do not have ANY PARTs in stock, so the car had to sit in the dealership for almost a month only because parts werent available or they had to order it and have it shipped or parts were on back order. ***2- after I showed my frustration and even mentioned word "Lemon Law" to the dealership after my car was sitting in the dealership for over 2 weeks, Hyundai North East general manager "Pauletta" called me and assured me that they were working on it and they would ship the parts as soon as theyre available. she gave me her phone# and told me after my car was fixed she would call me and offer me gift cards or free service coupons. guess what?! I got my car back but there hasnt been any sign of Pauletta! I called her multiple times and left messages, she never answered her phone and never returned my call. and when I complained about it to the dealership they told me they have had the same complaint about "Pauletta and her promises" from other customers! WAY TO GO Hyundai!!! ***3- Sonata 2.0 T: stay away from Hyundai Turbo cars, I talked to three mechanics and even the dealership guy himself told me that Hyundai Turbo cars are high maintenance cars....

  • You get what you buy - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

This car is beautiful on the outside. It will definitely get you noticed on the road.I got it a few weeks ago and was very excited about it. But not even a few days later my car developed turbo waste gate actuator rattle. This was a known problem in previous generation 2.0t and it wasnt redesigned or fixed. Hyundai just said that this is a normal characteristic of this car. If it rattles like a trash can, would it be normal? It sounds like a lose heat shield and you can hear it at acceleration and even at higher rpms. Deal wasnt able to do anything about it, so I am waiting until my next maintenance and see if it goes away. If not I will have them replace the whole waste gate/turbo.

  • very good car - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

i returned my 2013 sonata from lease and got another one. 15 sonata is little bigger and more comfortable and better mpg. one thing i did not like about 13 was all the blind sights but they fixed on 15. i have 10 thousand miles on it already and and this one is giving me 540miles per a full tank of gas and not as sporty as 13 but it is ok.

  • Black leather driver seat backrest wears off. - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

We bought this car new with 1700 miles on It. At 2000 miles the leather on the drivers seat backrest was worn off and was white. Cheap material! The dealership looked at it and said that there had to be something wrong with the material and ordered a new seat cover. It came in and they had the upholstery guy install it. The car now has 5300 miles and the seat is doing the same thing. Contacted the dealership and they said "To bad we replaced it once." Filed a case with Hyundai America and after more than a month, a few ugly phone calls and a lot of emails they told us the same thing and that it was the way we got in and out of the car. They said we slid our butts getting in and out! Really? We needed to put the seat all the way back, get in and put the seat back up. If anyone in the world can get in and out of a car without sliding there butt on some part of the seat I will kiss that butt! I am in the process of trying to trade the car. I am 65 and was hoping this would be my retirement car. DO NOT buy a Hyundai with black leather!!

  • Best we have ever owned... - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I purchased this car after a major exploration project starting with the successes of Hyundais new engineers and this sophisticated beauty. It screams of value, value and yes, more value. Thanks to Audi for allowing Hyundai to hire some amazing engineers....!!! Just look at the crazy safety features like the rear cross traffic alert and then the pixilation on the backup camera is second to none...hands down. Then combined with the best warranty in America, and the new multi-link suspension - it is a CHAMP!!!
