  • Part on order for four months - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I really liked this car until the center console started to drop down and obscure my vision. It turns out it is a defective design. Four months later, my part is still on back order. My dealer and Hyundai Motors are totally helpless. This only reminds me that while the car initially looked good and drove good, in the long run a consumer depends on the dealer and customer service. The dealers excuse is that they are selling so many Hyundais they cant keep up. The consumer affairs people are powerless.

  • Great Value - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

My last vehicle was an Infiniti G35, so you have to know that this vehicle impressed me. No, it wont out race or out handle the G, but it cost 14K less, and gets over 40% better fuel economy. So far the car is excellent. The 198 HP GDI 4 Cly is more than adequate. If you are worried about no V6, drive the car. Most drivers will be pleased. (If it is still an issue, wait for the Turbo.) The car is actually slightly smoother and quieter than my G35. It also handles surprisingly well. While this is not a sport sedan, it handles better than Accord, Camry, Malibu, and Fusion SEL. The interior in the Limited is much better than other competing cars. Great head liner.

  • 2011 in 2010. Perfect. - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

This 2011 is great. The 6 speed auto with overdrive torque lockup makes this an interstate veh. First 300 miles is getting a strong 36 mpg on two lane roads. On the interstate it just wants to fly. 40 plus MPG at 73 MPH 2200 RPM. The prius has a .25 drag co. and this has a .28 drag co. and I can tell driving it the sonata just wants to go! It trues out like an arrow! I am 62" ... very comfortable car. Turning the steering wheel quarter to half an inch brings immediate tracking response.

Warning to all those thinking about purchasing a Hyundai Sonata 2011, there have been a large number of recalls because once you hit 85,000 miles+ the engine will fail. I just had it happen to mine. They never sent me a recall report on anything except the break lights. They informed me they are not sure of how long it will take to repair it since theyre not making the engines fast enough. Thankfully, since it was a recall, the Hyundai dealer is paying for the repairs which can cost up to $6,000. They are amazing cars, but the engine failure was a huge disappointment.

  • 3rd Hyundai - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

I have had my car for 4 weeks and have logged over 2500 miles. The first thing to all of you with the pull to the left,It can be corrected by moving the frame. Mine is now fixed and runs as straight as an arrow. Anyhow this car is freakin awesome. The turbo is quick, smooth, and great on gas and this a truly great thing at $3.39 a gallon. The bluetooth is the best invention since sliced bread! XM standard! Who would have thought you could have so much for so little. This is our third Hyundai and wont be our last.

Ive always driven a Toyota - my first car was a 1970 Toyota Spider and Ive driven Corollas and Camrys. Have always been pleased with the combination of reliability, features and price. When time came to look for a new vehicle, I decided to look at several - the Sonata, Camry, Accord and Fusion. Based on the dealer experience, features and price, I made the switch to Hyundai. Ive been extremely pleased with the car thus far. If the long term reliability matches my expectations, Ill probably get another Hyundai when my wife is ready to trade in her Camry next year. Have had the car for about 30 days and havent experienced any problems thus far.

I have about 900 miles and cant be pleased more. I get about 35 hwy and 27 city. Im sure those figures will improve. Interior is very nice, more upscale than your typical car in this segment.

  • A Disappointment - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I was very excited when I purchased my Sonata, but soon was disappointed when I realized that Hyundai put all its efforts into the exterior design and the bells and whistles, and not into the design of the undercarriage or quality of the materials used there. The car seemed to bottom out on potholes or dips in the road, which was just a nuisance until I hit a pothole/dip in the road at less than 20 mph, causing the splash shield to bend the radiator support. The repair cost over $1,300--Hyundai refused to acknowledge there is a problem with the car design/materials, and the dealer, Fitzgerald Hyundai, was no better. I got rid of the car, as its impossible to avoid every pothole forever.
