  • Fun to drive, great mpgs - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

We had a 2006 Sonata GLS V6, which we loved. It had 83,000 miles without a problem. It was totaled recently in an accident so we were forced to go car shopping. I test drove a Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion, but new 2011 Sonata is a very impressive car. New GDI engine is very efficient. Doesnt necessarily sound pretty, but quiet once going with very adequate power. The new 6 speed shifts great, keeps rpm low when driving easy and downshifts quickly when asked too. MPG 33-37 for us so far. We bought the GLs for the slightly softer seats and slightly better ride than the SE. Our two tone tan/black interior makes car look more expensive than it is. Paid $19,800 with Hyundai loyalty.

  • After 40k and 3 years, shes still beautiful, but... - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Design: The car is beautiful inside and out, and the paint is still shiny. The ergonomics are great. The materials are decent, but the seat is uncomfortable. MPG: In mixed driving, I average 24 MPG. On the highway, I get 35 MPG. Engine: For a four-cyl, it moves nicely, but man it is LOUD! Transmission: Smooth as silk. Handling: The worst part of the car. Its like theres a marshmallow holding the steering wheel to the wheels. So numb. The ride is jittery as well. Brakes are a-ok. Aging: The car feels much cheaper now compared to three years ago. The engine is loud after 1.5k RPMs. Several rattles have developed in the cabin.

For 10 years I drove a Honda/Acura. In this economy I wanted to purchase the most for my money. The 2011 Sonatas interior has everything a person could ever want with a style that is comparable to any of the higher priced names. It handles well and is very comfortable.

  • Not your fathers Hyundai. - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Bought top of the line Limited, loaded with too many options to list. Compared to Accord, Camry, Mazda 6, Acura TSX, some smaller SUVs. This car wins hands down. Got great no hassle price for first offer from no pressure salesman lower than I would have paid. Great lines in this new model, lots of interior/ trunk space room. No rattles or problems as mentioned in other reviews. Fit and finish superb, great ride, quiet as a mouse. Love this car. Total winner by Hyundai.

  • Getting worse... - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

This is my third or fourth review on this same car since buying it 17 months ago. Theres a crackling/rattling noise from the front which the dealer tried to address by tightening something and that hasnt worked. The alignment is still off although my original tires are still usable at 28k miles. Most recently theres been excessive road noise and I cant figure out what it is. The ride feels cheap, its awful going over bumps, i dont ilke the feel and sound of the swooshing steering wheel. all in all, i think the value is still good on paper when you consider the features on the base model compared to the accord or camry. i most likely will be turning this in at lease end.

Just finished a 5400 mile round trip from Florida to Arizona, Nevada and Utah and back. Actual mileage was 31.97 mpg from start to finish. Drove the interstates at speed limit plus 4 mph. Never felt the need for more power, engine and transmission handled every condition without any problem. Hit temperatures of 106 and auto climate control did its job flawlessly. Smooth, quiet and comfortable with outstanding looks. Handled the back roads well, especially coming out of Zion national park going to Bryce canyon. Sold on Hyundai

  • One Single "Limited" Flaw - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Check me out on this: The single flaw is the chrome strip adjoining the drivers bottom exterior side window is not flush to the rear chrome strip. Strange as the passenger side is correct. The Dealership says...OH NO - ALL THE LIMITEDs are like that; and a fix may be a long time away! The other very small visual issue I have is the air controllers nonfunctional "mans- head". Could the design not have used a reclined human figure?

  • Nice! - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

I owned Nissan before I got 2011 used Sonata with less than 100k miles. Overall happy with it.

  • After 13,000 miles - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Pros: Nice design overall with lots of interior room. Nice hp for a 4 cyl engine with good gas mileage. Cons: Ive had to take the car in twice for hood alignment and minor detail mistakes. A lot of plastic parts are rattling and cracking inside.
