This Year's Model Updates:

The Hyundai Sonata is redesigned for 2015 with a more refined look and a larger cabin. A new Eco trim level with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine also debuts, although the more powerful 2.0T trim level has nearly 30 fewer horsepower.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride
  • Lots of standard and optional features for the money
  • Quiet and roomy interior
  • Solid build quality.
Cons:
  • Sweeping roof line compromises headroom for taller passengers.
  • Disappointing acceleration from Sport 2.0T

  • 22,000 miles of smooth, quiet trouble free driving - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Love this car. Smooth, quiet, tons of room, great gas mileage, not one problem with anything. Package with back up camera, XM, power drivers seat, automatic headlights and the homelink auto dimming mirror made the base model a great commuter and road trip car. With very little effort I can get 40+ mpg on the highway and for a car this size thats amazing. The only thing I dont like is the buzz of GDI engine when its cold and no spare tire included (I bought one with the jack for $200). $21,500 out the door with 0% financing made it the perfect new car.

  • Sonata Limited 2.0 Turbo Review - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Before purchasing the Sonata I completed much research and drives on cars to include: MB C300, BMW 328i, Ford Fusion Titanium, Volvo S60, & Toyota Avalon. Having driven mostly European cars for the past 30 years I wanted to try something different. Areas considered; reliability, technology, warranty & fun to drive. After 8000 miles; 0 problems, no squeaks or rattles. MPG so far: City/22.5, Highway/32.5, combined/28. The Lotus engineers working on the Genesis suspension must have helped with the Sonata, doesnt drive like a FWD. The difference between this near luxury car and the luxury (premium brands) is the extra $10K to $15K U would have to pay. Makes absolutely no economic sense.

  • Fourth Brand New Hyundai in Three Years - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

In 2012 I bought my first Sonata after driving a friends. I always owned used luxury cars and as I got older wanted my first brand new car but I wanted value since new cars depreciate quickly. I hated my first Sonata. It was basic, boring, and not me. I then bought a 2013 Santa Fe six months later and LOVED it. After a year though I missed having a sunroof and in 2014 bought the Sonata 2.0T and absolutely adored this car. Then15 months later I found myself sitting in the 2015 Sonata and asking myself, "is this really a Hyundai"?. The interior design is beautiful and gives the illusion of a much more expensive car. The seats are extremely supportive and comfortable. The cabin is 100% quieter than previous Sonatas and the build quality is solid. I know Hyundai made improvements to the suspension and the ride quality feels as though you are floating, this good because its very luxurious, bad because you do not know how fast youre going. Blind spot detection system is really great and the visibility is vastly improved over the previous model. I bought the sport model with premium package because I did not want to spend allot especially if Im going to trade it in as I have done with the past three cars. Im kicking myself for not getting the tech package or buying the limited for the panoramic roof. I actually see owning this car for quite a few years. I absolutely love it and I havent felt this way about a car since my Saab 9-5. My only complaint, the speakers for the audio system suck. Ill buy new ones in a few.

  • Lots of convenience features - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai has more features as standard in the Limited model than you would find in the higher priced competition with their standard equipment package. Why would anyone want to buy one of the high priced spread cars when this one has everything you would want. Have only owned it for 4 weeks and love it. Previous vehicle was also a Hyundai.

  • Long term review (1year/14000 miles on vehicle) - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Weve owned this car and I wrote an initial review after looking at a mazda 3 and 6, ford taurus and a Genesis Sedan. After having this vehicle for over a year and being able to drive it daily and learn its functions I can really say this car is a solid buy. Living in a freezer 7-8 months out of the year this thing has really performed with only very minor gripes about it and they really boil down to the way my kids treat this vehicle. EVERY function of the car still works with no broken knobs or funny noises and the car is still in "one piece". There is the normal wear and tear that any interior has but its dealt with my family very well, with all aspects being able to hold up and stay clean. My 3 girls have a problem with keeping their feet off everything and as a result I have to constantly wipe down the interior and clean scuffs off the outside but these are things that life throws at you. Other than having the car serviced at regular intervals nothing mechanically has broken in the car to to have it repair and the dealer has always been curious to us upon receiving the vehicle and well more than likely go through them when our lease is up to look into another vehicle. Gas mileage is still the same as when we bought it, with 27ish mpgs combined driving and premium fuel every time we fill. I have noticed the tires starting to split on the sidewall and will have this remedied through our dealer as its covered under warranty. Overall if youre looking for a solid vehicle (even used) Id look at one of these. Fully loaded you wont be disappointed as there are only a small number of models that supersede the Sonata within the brand.

  • Great value! - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

My first experience with a Hyundai. And over all,I have been impressed! I have the Sport model with Premium package. Coming from an Accord,I was a little skeptical. But I liked the styling and interior. Classy looking exterior. The interior,is very well laid out. Functional with easy to use controls. I love the digital odometer. The dual auto temp AC works great. The back up camera works very well, with a surprisingly clear picture. The radio and speakers are adequate.Quality look and feel to the materials. The leather Sport seats have cloth inserts,so you dont get burned in summer heat. I have a sensitive back, and with the side bolsters, and power adjustments, including lumbar,I am very comfortable. The car is very quiet. The engine is very smooth running. Transmission shifts are not felt. I do hear, a slight road coarness, from the performance tires. I have been surprised at how roomy the car is. It is EPA classified as a large car, with 122 cubic feet of interior space. That is the same as a Chrysler 300. Only without the bulky exterior. It has a big 16.3 cubic foot trunk. With a very large pass thru opening. Which comes in handy, when carrying a big item. And it has dual struts for the hood! A rarity in cars today.Only a few minor complaints. I am so far only getting 26 MPG in mixed driving,in the ECO mode. I am hoping that will improve, with a little more mileage. The cup holders,in the console,do not have a gripping device to hold the drink in place. And the cup holder in the doors,is only big enough for a slim bottle or can. They could have made the touch screen bigger than 5". I dont see why they did not include the data system in the radio. Overall for the money and long term warranty, you cant beat the 2015 Sonata.

  • I absolutely LOVE my Sonata. - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

I am 7 months into a 36 month lease with my 2015 Hyundai Sonata. For many years I was a Chevrolet fan, however, when the time came for me to acquire a new vehicle, I could not find anything in the current Chevy lineup that excited me quite as much as the Sonata. Id rented it several times for trips from LA to Vegas and was extremely impressed at everything about it. The fuel economy is fantastic. Depending on what type of driving I am doing, city vs the LA to Vegas run, I routinely get 450-480 miles to a tank of gas, 500 if i am being very conscious (and trying...its a game to me!) It is very roomy. When I have my nieces and nephew with me, the second row accommodates 3 booster seats easily without feeling cramped. When I am traveling with adult passengers, the front and rear passengers are comfortable. The trunk space is fantastic! The car is light, quick and extremely fun to drive, especially in Sport mode. I have had zero issues with it maintenance wise. Pairing it with my devices, both iPhone and Android was very quick and easy to do. Any time anyone asks what I think about my Sonata, I feel confident in telling them that it is absolutely worth checking out.

  • A lot of car for the money!! - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

If you ae in the market for a quality mid-sized sedan, then this car should be at the top of the list. I just purchased my Sonata yesterday, & I was pleasantly impressed. The car, when I got in it, had a very good quality feel. It didnt seem to be cheap, & the tech package was impressive. But what blew me away is the way the car drove & handled. After the test drive I hardly believed it was a 4 cyl car; @ 185 hrs pwr you have enough to get the job done - if you need more then of course youll foot the bill for that, but I dont find it necessary unless you plan to go street racing. The mix of fuel economy, elegant design, & appointments make this car really competitive against choices like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Kia Optima, Nissan Maxima, etc., but checks in way below the belt pricewise of them all. To me the this is the most bang for your buck.

  • BEST IN CLASS... and two classes above it. - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

As a "Car Guy" my congratulations on over achieving with the 2015 Sonata Limited. With the Luxury and Ultimate Packages this car can complete with $50K cars like the ES 350 and the Hyundai Genesis with $20K less out of your pocket. That savings equals free gas for the next 300,000 miles. The ride quality, cabin quietness and room, tech features and MPG make the other cars in its class seem like Model Ts. My wife is far from a car person but she fell in love with our new car!!! GREAT JOB.

  • A Hyundai Hooner - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

After having many cars spanning many years (Im a car junkie), I can say that I enjoy this Sonata. PROS: The design is great. The ride is comfortable. The steering is smooth and effortless. The engine is quiet and moderately powerful. The HVAC performs flawlessly. It feels as though there is a stop-neutral feature (I personally like this, but one has to remember to give the pc a second to engage before throttling). The engine idles smoothly and the transmission shifts perfectly (despite the fact that it has an electronic throttle module (and likely a TCM elsewhere) placed right at the front of the engine for all of the radiant radiator heat to blow on it, will see how that device holds up over time). Tire and rim sizes are perfect (that doesnt always happen). The interior visibility is good with the exception of the rear window (I use blind spot mirrors so I dont look back there nor do I turn my head to look out windows when lane changing, it isnt necessary). When braking, I really enjoy that the transmission gears down, finally creeping up to a stop, I have had to only put forth minimal effort when braking. CONS: I have only had the car a very short time so my input is biased (I love this new car) and questionable and any rating regarding reliability isnt valid. I cant say enough how much I hate plastic components bolted onto a hot metal engine, that said, I dislike the plastic intake manifold. The Electronic Throttle Module is located at the front of the engine, uncovered, unprotected from radiant heat and water/particles from the grill (I had a Volvo and plenty of Fords with that darned ETM... There is body roll when cornering, but that is to be expected with most mid-class mid-size sedans.
