Tired of Denial and Dishonest Service - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
By p51mustang1 - December 14 - 9:27 amI bought 2011 Sonata Limited for my wife with maintenance included so that shell have carefree service, thus paid premium price for the car. I am an engineer myself so I understand there could be and there will be bugs in newly designed vehicles. When she wanted to return the car after overheating twice and gearshift issues in first month, I stopped her. I wish I did not. There followed other problems, seats squishing, rattling inside the car. And last but not least leaking moon roof from the passenger side. Every time the services response was, it is normal, it can happen etc. Mind you my wife drives our baby around this car so she is a very gentle driver.

Buyer Beware - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
By atmyheels - July 14 - 10:41 amThis car has been a huge disappointment: it looks sharp but is not mechanically sound. I purchased the car certified pre-owned just over a year ago with under 30K on the odometer. It has been a series of unending problems ever since: all interior windows must be cleaned every 3 to 4 weeks with rubbing alcohol to remove a greasy residue that continually builds up (dealer does not know the cause), the interior smells similar to a wet dog when it rains, the battery was replaced at 35K yet still occasionally dies, both rear tail light assemblies failed causing the tail lights to stop working, and several rattles developed in the dashboard. This is in addition to two recalls.

Oops I should have got smt else,,,smt reliable - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
By peter127 - September 16 - 9:32 amHad for a little over 2 years, lately I have been going to a delearship often to have issues fixed. Major issues I found were, engine wont start, thankfully I was in town. Front door wont unlock with a remote, I had to use back door to open front door last time I did that was ,,,,never ,,,Current issue, I heard a hamming sound from the dashboard, it actually felt like some one was mowing grass, honestly I rolled down my window to check. They said it was at the back of the radio unit and they took out the whole unit including gps. Guess what I am driving, a car with a big hole on my dashboard,,that could be ok but I feel it is not reliable. Better spend ur hard earned money on reliable car!

A Disappointment - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
By coconut66 - February 13 - 9:07 pmI was very excited when I purchased my Sonata, but soon was disappointed when I realized that Hyundai put all its efforts into the exterior design and the bells and whistles, and not into the design of the undercarriage or quality of the materials used there. The car seemed to bottom out on potholes or dips in the road, which was just a nuisance until I hit a pothole/dip in the road at less than 20 mph, causing the splash shield to bend the radiator support. The repair cost over $1,300--Hyundai refused to acknowledge there is a problem with the car design/materials, and the dealer, Fitzgerald Hyundai, was no better. I got rid of the car, as its impossible to avoid every pothole forever.
