  • Practical comparision - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

We needed a new family sedan. Researching new car w/3 criteria: price, roominess, and MPG. After comparing compact sedans, the Elantra was 1st pick due to MPG. We drove the Sonata, too. The price difference was enough to consider mid-size due to roominess. It was a toss up between the Sonata and the Ford Fusion. The scales tipped to favor the Sonata vs Fusion by: price, roominess, MPG, and the best warranty. Weve driven our Sonata from Cleveland to Pittsburgh and back. Average MPG hwy: 34.7 @ 75MPH. Average city/mixed MPG 27.8 @ 43 MPH ave; close to EPA rating. Only bad thing I can say about this car is road noise gets noticeable around 45 MPH and blind spots thru back window.

  • What have I done? - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

I was absolutely smitten with this vehicle since the moment I saw it on the lot; it has loads of equipment, is quiet, comfortable, has plenty of power and gets truly excellent gas mileage. However, at 1K miles, the dash began rattling on the right side unmercifully, and then the right door began rattling in the frame. It sounds like something came loose inside the door. This morning, with less than 6K miles on the odometer, while cruising at 65 mph on the freeway, there was a huge BANG from under the hood and the car swerved violently and immediately lost forward speed. I just found out the transmission had "imploded."

  • What a great 2011 Sonata! - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

OK! After a long hard look at Honda, Toyota, Ford & Hyundai I have picked the best! 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited Edition! I test drove the 4cyl & 6 cyl Camry, Fusion, and accord but none could compare to the Sonata. This car offers more features, better handling and gas mileage than all. What amazes me is the Sonata is a 4 cylinder and has more pickup than the others! You cannot go wrong with the Sonata!

  • Great Value...suspect build quality - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

My 2011 Sonata GLS w/PEP2 is now 1-year old. From a value for the money perspective, the car is outstanding. High level of standard features that cost way more in the competition. The build quality of the car, however, is very questionable. After only 1-year and 14,300 miles, my Sonata is full of rattles. Door panels, dash, rear parcel shelf, center console...rattles everywhere. The dealer said they would need to remove the entire dash to "attempt" to fix the dash rattle. I normally keep cars 3-4 years, however the Sonata will be traded much sooner than that. Just need to find a suitable replacement.

  • We love our car! - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

When looking for a new car my wife and I looked at several factors. Fuel economy, style, comfort, and warranty. We found all of these in the Sonata. We love the look of the car, the ride, style, and most of all the fuel economy. We drove 1000 miles on a tank and half of gas. The car has plenty of power to pass other vehicles. I am amazed that this car can get this kind of fuel economy with this amount of power. We love our car. Our son bought one the following week.

  • pulling issue - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

In June of 2011 I purchased a sonata with 40 miles on it. since day 1 it has had a pulling issue. Struts have been replaced, camber bolt kit has been tried. New tires settle the pull issue mostly but still has problems and does not drive straight. Key cylinder has been replaced due to key sticking. Gas gauge has been replaced because it showed I always needed gas, even when i just fueled up. I have argues the pulling issue with dealearship since day 1. I am being told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. All my family and mech. friends have driven this car with the same feelings as mine. Something is wrong!! It definetly does not drive straight. Horrible customer service.

  • Dont believe the hype! - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai does not stand behind what they make. The 100k warranty is a joke. Talk about a noisy ride and a rattle box! They are no Toyota. I am waiting for the electrical problems to start. Stay away from Keffer Hyundai of Charlotte!

  • Oh. Ver. Rated. - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The windshield defogger fogs up the windshield exterior, obscuring my view – to me, a major hazard. The driver’s seat only supports up to my shoulder blades. I can tolerate it for about 30 minutes. The light on the PRND console indicator is distractingly bright; the ride is harsh, choppy, noisy; the electronic door lock doesn’t always lock the doors; observed gas mileage is nowhere near published figures; the vague digital readout of the gas gauge won’t allow close scrutiny when nearing empty; the tilt/telescope steering column and remote outside mirror control feel cheap and don’t operate smoothly; the steering column doesn’t lock when the ignition is off; high beams are not very bright.

  • Time will tell - Getting disappointed day by day - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

When we bought this car in April 2010, we were so excited and thought it was great value - good looking, great freeway mileage etc. There were some minor problems (the handle bars fell off within 1/2 year) but we were okay as long as the engine runs well. However in less than 2 years, we kind of regret it. Since January we have visited the service department 4 times in less than 2 months: 1. Engine lights on 2. Starter broke and was replaced 3. Oil leak 4. More oil leak after less than 2 weeks This car only has 29K miles. Although these were all covered by warranty, its not fun to visit the service dept. every other week. I dont need free car wash anymore.

  • Best Buy in its class - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

By far the best car and best buy in its class. Others do not come close in style, comfort and performance. As soon as I test drove this car, I knew it was the car for me. The interior feels sporty and luxurious and the exterior lines are impressive. I was pleasantly surprised with the feel of the engine - quick and smooth. It really feels like the car is floating along the road. I still cant believe the base model comes with so many features. My only complaint is the sight lines from the rear view mirror. Its difficult to see behind you.
