Overview & Reviews
The 2002 Sonata receives a new look, a refined suspension and an available automanual transmission. The standard features list is lengthened to include such niceties as remote keyless entry and, on GLS and new-for-2002 LX models, 16-inch wheels. In September 2002, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Sonata's 2.4-liter four-cylinder is now rated for 138 hp, while the V6 is now at 170, the previously advertised 2002 power upgrade (11 horsepower) apparently notwithstanding. To compensate, the company is offering owners (of 2000 models and newer) three options: 10 years of roadside assistance, 6-year/72,000-mile basic warranty coverage or 12-year/120,000-mile powertrain coverage.
- Excellent warranty, stylish sheetmetal, lots of bang for your family-sedan buck.
- Noisy four-cylinder engine, some cheap interior bits.

I Get Many Compliments - 2002 Hyundai Sonata
By Larryissmart - September 14 - 10:00 amI get only positive comments and compliments from friends and family. Two friends (so far) now want to go out and purchase a Sonata. Very attractive European styling. Fit and finish are excellent. At a distance, appears to be a much more expensive car. Engine is quiet and smooth. Rear seats are comfortable enough for two large adults. Dealer was excellent and not at all pushy. You cant find a better bargain than the Sonata. The best vehicle purchase I have ever made.

Great buy, nice looking - 2002 Hyundai Sonata
By wbaker - May 4 - 10:00 amBought my Sonota to replace a 1994 Sentra. Great buy for the money. Have 1600 miles on it. Only problem is with the paint on the roof and the dealership will fix it w/my 3000 mile service. The problem occurred b/c of condensation from the plastic cover thats on it for transport. Everyone thinks its a Jag. Sharp looking and surprisingly fast. Switched from a 5 speed to auto with this car and was worried I would lose power.

Changed Attitude - 2002 Hyundai Sonata
By sirjohn113 - May 4 - 10:00 amWhen my wife & I had our first baby, we went car shopping to replace my old sports car. I looked at the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus, Acura & Lexus. We were floored at the average prices on the sticker. My father in law recommended Hyundai, I always thought Hyundais product was not as good as the other makes, but was I wrong, weve had this car for almost 2 years, & I can definitely say that Hyundai has improved its product by leaps & bounds. I am a very satisfied Hyundai Sonata owner & I didnt get sticker shock either!!!
