This Year's Model Updates:

For 2007, Hyundai has shuffled the Sonata's trim levels. GLS replaces the previous GL moniker and Limited takes the place of LX. Hyundai has also introduced a new sporty SE trim. Later in the model year, a tire-pressure monitor and XM radio become standard across the line.

Pros:
  • Upscale look and feel, refined performance with V6, smooth ride, roomy cabin, standard stability control, attractive value and warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Steering somewhat vague, automatic transmissions are fussy in manual-shift mode, heated seats on the weak side.

  • Surprised! - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Bought the car for the value, but was surprised at the overall quality of everything. My wife and I both commented the car is very much like our Infiniti I30, handling, ride and all. I30 in 1996 cost us about $10,000 more than what we are paying for the 2007 Sonata. Have only 450 miles on it so far, but hope the reliability is as good as I30. Potential buyer should expect that this car has a firmer and stiffer ride than a boat-like ride of the Camrys. On a rough road, it does give a lot of dull thud sound (not thumps as some people describe in various forums). I hear this types of thuds in almost every car. It is just a matter of degrees, depending on the suspension design.

  • Limited Edition V6 - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Its no-more "good for the money Hyundai" I would get this car even without the rebate. The build quality and the design is amazing. It has fast, yet smooth acceleration, unlike other competitors. Very comfortable interior, largest among other similar cars tested. Im very happy that I made the choice to buy this car.

I purchased my Sonata 2007 SE v6 about 2~3 months ago. Its deep blue. So far, Im HAPPY with my money =). It looks great, performance is great. I love everything about this car except gas mileage. Im getting around 20 mpg over all. Besides that, no problem.

Years ago, you may have thought this is a junk car. Back then, it was. My how time has changed everything. From the motor to the design, everything has been revamped. Reliability and build quality have far exceeded my expectations. Go get yourself a Sonata: popularity has gone up with its quality.

  • Passenger Side Air Bag - 2007 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

My 2007 model has a problem with the passenger side air bag system. My wife who is 57" and 125 lbs does not always activate the system. The car has been back to the dealer who reports that there was not any problems with the syste. I called Hyundai directly and they said that I should bring the car back to dealer. The instruction manual states that the system will activate when the passenger has the seat back in the full upright position, the seat all the back, no leaning on the center consol or arm rest. On one trip she got in the system went on but when she dozed off and her body moved the system was deactivated. I tested out the system with one of the 5ft 2 girls in my office, no luck.

  • Kudos All Around - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Overall, like most, I find this car a great value with comfort and convenience equal to the equivalent Accord and the Camry. In addition to all the positive things said about the Sonata, Id only add that I find the mileage I get to be perfectly suitable. In easy city driving, Im averaging about 23.5 mpg, and after a 2000-mile interstate trip I just completed, I averaged 28.5 mpg going 75-80 mph, even with one tank of 10% ethanol gas. This seems to me most reasonable and very much in line with the 30 mpg the car lists for a lower speed. Given those figures and all the other positives about the car, its hard to beat for the price: nice look, good power, overall decent comfort.

  • Great car - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Traded an Accord V6 w/13000 miles to get it. Wife decided to buy a Santa Fe, were closing on it and salesman asks, "Sir, what do you drive?". On laughing and answering that I just got the new Honda, he throws me the keys to a new limited and says, "Drive it and let me worry about the numbers!". The Sonata is fun, quiet, strong, good looking, comfortable, large trunk, fast, better stereo, no rattles, easy to service, sure footed, and fast. I think the hp is underrated.

  • good car for the money - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

my wife and i purchased our sonata last fall. it was the most car we could find for the money. we are very happy with it. it has a smooth ride and great comfort. it is an extremely quiet ride. the pick up is adequate, although there seems to be a little drag shifting from 1st to 2nd if you are easy on the gas. the gas mileage is average, about 24 city and 28 highway. if you stay at the speed limit or lower, it improves. i did get 33 mpg on one such trip! the cd system is great.the abs and 4 disc brakes work extremely well.

  • Good Value-for-Money - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Leased my Sonata GLS 07 (with extra trim) in Feb 2007. Debated between this and a Jetta but cost-wise I chose Sonata. It is good overall, except comparing to the Jetta, the quality of the sound system of the Sonata is inferior. Also, the seat of the Sonata does not feel as tailored to the passenger as the Jetta seat is. But it is definitely much BIGGER inside. I enjoy the space. I owned a Jetta and enjoyed it and really like the sporty style and feel of it. But now when I look at a Jetta, it seems to look too small! Its a nice change, but I think that being single, I would still go back to a Jetta next time. Get a Sonata though if you have a family. I dont think you could go wrong.

I bought the car about a month ago and am in love. Its a fantastic value for your money and its a fun car to drive. Great safety features, great sound system, very comfortable ride. Gas mileage isnt quite what I hoped, but its not bad at all. I highly recommend this car to anyone whos safety and budget conscious but also wants a car you feel great in.
